RE: Old scene rendered in Artlantis 2
" (...) many artists or the perfectionist artist type renderer that does not have time as an obstacle."
That'd be me. I see your point, however. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't use Maxwell or Indigo.
Edit: I admit, Sjaak, the way you put it, there's sense in investing in Artlantis.

RE: Any Dutch or Belgium people here?
Goeie vraag, Koos. Coen? Enne ... waarom heet dit fijne subforum 'Holland'? Vergaten we niet een klein landje, beste dijkenbouwende buren?

Any Dutch or Belgium people here?
I'm Tom, a 31-year old copywriter/editor from Antwerp, Belgium.
I'm an artist by education, and little over a year ago, I was on the prowl for an arch viz oriented 3D design tool. The first ones I tried were either too complex or just plain ridiculous. Then I found SU - just the thing I needed.
In fact, I like SU so much, that I've decided to make a career out of using it. In a couple of months, I'll no longer be a copywriter/editor. I'll be realizing an old dream: being a full-time artist. SU will be my most important tool (honourable mentions: Podium, Indigo and Maxwell).

RE: Just a WIP (Indigo)
Solo, the file size is 74,7 MB. Render time for this one: 15 hrs and change.
Modelhead, those floor hangers are merely there because I thought: hmm, I need something more.
This model still needs quite some tweaking. I really should plan ahead more, instead of just jumping in.

RE: Multilight, baby!
There'll be some, mate, there'll be some. As soon as I got everything figured out.
And as far as NL's not-so-hands-on approach is concerned, I assumed that was a thing of the past. But no. Call me old-fashioned, but if I pay a software company a 1000 β¬, I expect decent support - and not this kind of "we'll get around to it when we do" attitude. Stinkie customer, NL shopkeeper - Stinkie asks questions, NL answers and smiles in Stinkie's general direction.

RE: Multilight, baby!
Thanks, Burkhard. Glad to be on board.
Yup, Scott and Remus, ML is cool. In truth - it's the chief reason why I bought Maxwell. I'm gonna be needing a tool that enables me to have really precise control over lighting. Pretty happy I got one.
I'm eagerly awaiting the release of the new plugin. The current one doesn't support instancing, which is ... well, less than good. Pelias - the NL guy who develops the plugins for SU - said he'd send the new plugin to any customer who asked for it. So I pm'ed him. No answer - so no plugin. Anyone else find NL customer care, er, "relaxed"?

Multilight, baby!
Maxwell's Multilight feature kicks *ss. (For any of you wondering: as far as workflow is concerned, Indigo is the better choice.)

RE: Using 'instancing/proxies' is fun
Hence the 'hideout of the mad professor look'.

RE: Using 'instancing/proxies' is fun
There's some weird experimenting going on in that house, by the looks of them lights. Other than that:
Like the reflections on the cobble stones (that the right word?).

RE: Wanting to "Bend" Objects
That's beautiful. If I ever have a daughther, I'm gonna call her that.

RE: Maxwell, baby!
Thanks, Mateo. Luckily, I have all the time in the world to use it. I'm not a professional, so I can afford the render times.
SU + MoI + Podium + Indigo + Maxwell. I'm beginning to have really nice toolbox.

love the camera angle on those indigo images! where is this vegetation from?? i need to buy some..
btw, i'm using the a pre-release version of the new maxwell sketchup plugin that includes instancing and its working great so far i just need to look into using dummy components now..
I pm'ed Pelias earlier today to get my hands on this baby. How's workflow?
Er, sorry for this, Kwisten. Bit of a hijack. Excellent image again - Asgvis should take a look at instancing.

RE: Norooz (happy new year)
Well, happy new year to you too. Keep the renders coming.

RE: Maxwell, baby!
I will. Got a long weekend coming up. I plan on playing with my new toy.
