Hey Red,
I hope we will be able to fix this one soon.
In the meantime let me know if it happens even with a single window.
and enjoy hawaii, for us landlocked people too.

Ok, I got it now.
It happens when I have more than one window opened with some nested components in them. With a single SU7 window opened it seems not to crash.
On the PC no luck at all, it just handles multiple windows much better.
Simone.
Same on the PC, no luck reproducing this one.
Simone.
I guessed that this was on Mac, but unfortunately I am unable to reproduce it. I can move all the Outliners entities around without crashing.
Which OS version you have and which SU7 version you have?
Also, does it matter at all which components you move?
Do you have many SU windows opened?
I would try erasing your com.google.sketchuppro7.plist from
/Users/<yourusername>/Library/Preferences/
this will wipe your SU7 remembered settings, but it has helped before in issue with the Outliner.
hope this helps.
thanks.

The New Ruby API documentation is up and running.
Take a look at:
http://code.google.com/apis/sketchup/docs/index.html
enjoy.
Simone.
Excellent Find John,
thanks to everyone for the useful help in narrowing down this.
Simone.
In the Ruby Example I gave you should be able to easily add/modify the csv format to use a different separator.
Change the following variables in the script to look like this
@cell_mid = "~"
@cell_end = "~"
Put the script in the Plugins directory start SU7 and ta-daaa!
And there you should have it.
Hope this helps.
Simone.
Here I am ready for input and light criticism.
Hope this helps and makes it easy for you to modify this for your own purpose.
thanks.
Simone.
Jean,
I think that you are seeing a "Thanks you for downloading" without having downloaded SU7 is because the popup that brings up the dialog asking you to save the installer has been blocked. This should depend on your Browser settings. Can you allow popup for your browser and try again?
Let me know if this helps.
The general issue we have heard of is that the download page is missing the central piece, like in the attached picture in the zip file.
We are interested in getting more info in order to be able to reproduce that.
thanks.

Since turning HW acceleration off fixes the problem, my guess is that the video card you have does not support OpenGL v1.5+ .
Can you let me know which video card you have and the driver version?
instructions here: http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=36253
Also you can try the steps here:
http://sketchup.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=39694&topic=13710
Let me know if this works.
thanks.
Simone.
p.s. a list of compliant OpenGL card can be found here
Detailed instruction can be found here

thanks.
Simone.
One thing to try would be to get the latest graphic driver for your video card. This kind of issue usually depends on the interaction between SU7 openGL and the graphic card driver. Before you update the driver make sure to save the old one somewhere, so that you can roll back to the old one if the new one does not improve the situation.
I hope this helps.

I used to work for the Windows Firewall team in my previous job. I guess I had an advantage on this one, it sounded very familiar to me.
I am glad it worked.

Hi All,
the help center language bug should be fixed for the maintenance release which will be released hopefully soon.
The Generate report 404 error, is something I am pushing hard to be in that release as well, and we might have a temporary fix even before then.
Thomthom asked:
"But what happens when a user often change between being connected and not connected to the internet? A laptop user that moves around often for instance. When you are connected you get one type of report which is different from when you're offline and there doesn't seem to be any indicator to why, leading to potential confusion."
This is an excellent question. The two reports are at this point in time identical so there should be no confusion, if we decide to add functionality to the online one, we will have to make clear to users why the Generate Reports might appear different. And which one they are currently using.
Thanks for all your feedback, and rest assured I am working on this and I hope we will have a solution soon.
Simone.
As far as the ActiveX error, I am not sure. I will ask around a little to see if there is a solution for that.
thanks.
Simone.
The Generate Report is using an online resource because that would allow extensibility without having to create an installer. We can simply change the online version and add functionality without pushing an install to users. This is a forward looking design and I am not sure whether or not it will prove useful. But I think this was the reasoning behind it.
I am glad the workaround is effective, I am hoping that we will have a fix soon available.
thanks.
Simone.
Alright,
I finally was able to duplicate the issue.
There is a workaround, which is to open SU7 and click on "Get Models". The dialog that appears is going to have a language setting in the upper left corner. If you change that to English, it will set a cookie for the 3DWH and it will allow you to correctly access the Generate Report functionality when online.
I have filed a bug for it and we will address it hopefully very soon.
let me know if this works for you guys.
Another way to approach this would be to delete the cookies for IE on PC and Safari on Mac and then it should work, but I think the first workaround is preferable if you do not want to delete the cookies.
thanks and let me know if this worked for you guys.
Simone.
Hey Thomas,
My only idea to get the URL from the Generate Report dialog was to right click and click on Properties.
Can you try the following:
open Internet Explorer and type in the following address:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/skpreport
This is the address we send the dialog to when your machine is online. When you open the page directly in IE it will complain about not knowing the skp protocol and then show some errors, but that is fine as long as the page looks like the Generate report dialog.
If that does not take you to a page similar to the generate report one, can you send me the address that it tried to send you too? and also what is displayed by right clicking on the window and selecting properties?
If that works fine, unfortunately we will need to investigate more.
Thanks a lot for your help.
Simone.
Hi All,
we are currently investigating this issue. Something useful to track the Generate report failure would be to know what url you are being directed to when you try to generate report and it fails.
Another thing to notice is that if you disconnect from the internet, the generate report functionality should work.
Working on it.
thanks for letting us know about it.
Simone.
(Google SketchUp team)
Tom,
can you try to turn off your firewall and try the upload again?
If it works, we can blame the firewall, if it does not, we will have to do more investigating.
thanks.
Simone.
