Outliner causes crashes

This is what is stated within the Manual:
EVERYTIME I DO THIS SU CRASHES....
I would be more than willing to send my files for inspection, insight or solutions.

redMoving Items Within the Outliner
Use the Outliner to reorganize groups and components in the hierarchy. For example, you can move a group, buried deep within the hierarchy, to the top of the hierarchy for easy editing. To move items within the outline:
Display the Outliner using the Window > Outliner menu item. The Outliner dialog box opens with a hierarchical view of your model. The Group and Component entities at the root (top-most) level of the hierarchy are displayed. An icon with a plus sign will appear next to any components or groups if additional levels in the hierarchy exists (additional groups or components within the top-level groups or components).
Click on the plus (+) icon to list groups or components within other groups or components. Or, optionally, click on the Details Menu and select the Expand All menu item to expand the hierarchy so all levels are displayed.
Click and hold on the group or component you want to move in the hierarchy.
Move the group or component to a new position in the hierarchy.

Is this in one model or in all models? Have you got an example file you could post up?
I did a quick test and it all seems to be working.

Here is the file,
bearing in mind I HAD to get these prints to the Building Department yesterday, so things are still in a "workable mess"
and I need to learn more on how to "organize" the Organizer,
I have chosen to stay away from Layers as it seemed to be causing more problems too.
I appreciate your insights.

No one willing to give feedback?

I guessed that this was on Mac, but unfortunately I am unable to reproduce it. I can move all the Outliners entities around without crashing.
Which OS version you have and which SU7 version you have?
Also, does it matter at all which components you move?
Do you have many SU windows opened?
I would try erasing your com.google.sketchuppro7.plist from
/Users/<yourusername>/Library/Preferences/this will wipe your SU7 remembered settings, but it has helped before in issue with the Outliner.
hope this helps.
thanks.

Same on the PC, no luck reproducing this one.

Ok, I got it now.
It happens when I have more than one window opened with some nested components in them. With a single SU7 window opened it seems not to crash.
On the PC no luck at all, it just handles multiple windows much better.

Thanks for taking the time to get clarity on the issue.
I often have had multiple windows open primarily because I was learning SU, and found the need to reference back to either a YouTube video or the Online support manual.
I understand more what the "limits" are within SU and my Mac OS system.
Hopefully this will be addressed as I still want my multiple windows!!!
thanks again

Hey Red,
I hope we will be able to fix this one soon.
In the meantime let me know if it happens even with a single window.and enjoy hawaii, for us landlocked people too.

Try closing the Components window pane when using the Outliner to sort your models.
I tried this, and it stopped crashing (so far). I use a Mac also.

Dang... You just brought a 2009 thread back to life...
-
It was the top topic on a google search for the problem, and it remained unresolved. Leaving it unanswered was screwing with my sense of order!
Seriously, this bug basically meant I never used Outliner (for 5 years!). I feel like I've rediscovered my sketchup childhood - the one where all the other kids went off on their special trip, while I was stuck at home sick.
-
I never have the outliner open when I'm working... It always slows operations and navigation of the model.
