thanks for the quick response. Found this on SU website after my inquire. it's too bad in a component you have to go in and individually select edges. Even in wireframe mode surfaces will select and then one must deselect them manually.

I found pretty much the same thing you posted, compliments of our trusted friend Gaieus.

Hi Karen, Yes, you can hide edges of geometry within a group but keep displayed in others. Do not do it in the styles dialogue but edit the group (double click), go to wireframe mode (hides all faces but only edeges are displayed), select all geometry in the group, right click and choose "Hide" from the context menu. Now you can go back to your previous display mode and see the faces but not the edges. The unhide all command (within the Edit menu) will not unhide your hidden edges when you are out of the context of the group. Igf you later want to unhide them, you will need to edit the group again and apply the unhide command when inside its context. Gai... I am designing an album cover in sketchup. I want to be able to print with the edges turned on. However there is a single complex component in the composition and i do not want to have the edges visible. I am stumped on how i can only select the edges in the component (far too many to select indivually) and hide them. I am sure there is a simple solution- what pray tell is it?

I am working on a logo for a friend's coffee shop. Of course as a longtime SketchUp pro user i decided to create the logo in a model form. Now it is time to "possibly" render the logo. I have never used rendering software but would like to give it a shot. Can anyone recommend V-ray as a good program for mac users? I am tempted to download the free trial of V-ray for mac but was hoping that someone could give me some feedback as to the quality of the program if you happen to use it or another Mac friendly rendering program that i learn easily.

Is it possible to have floating or rows of tools instead of the single horizontal toolbar. I often times am working on my laptop or not using a large monitor and would like to have the tool icons more easily accessible.

Is there any way to use floating toolbars on a mac or move/stack the toolbar to have visual access of all of the tools?

can anyone help me to change the color of the x, y, and z colors to something else. I love to be able to view the model by axis in edge styles but would like to change them to a different color scheme. Any advice? Until then- I'll search for a plug-in.

when Style Builder first was released in SU version "your guess is as good as mine" i made some cool styles that i would love to share and or have located in my styles library. Unfortunately i can only find them in Models that i created years ago in SU.

Two questions:

1. I assume that the Style is embedded somewhere in that old .skp file. Can anyone tell me how i can locate that .style file and add it to my library so i'm not having to use that old .skp file as a template?

2. Is there a way to edit the old .style in style builder, rather than start from scratch by exporting the style from SU to Style Builder?

I just lost multiple pages for a Construction Document set running LayOut V 3.0.3161

I am afraid to redo all of the work and pages only to have it happen again. I will post the error message but essentially this is what it says:

"Missing Pages- Some pages in this document are missing, but LayOut may be able to recover the rest of the document. You may want to revert to a previous backup if something important has been lost.

The previous backup copy is also corrupt.

Am i going to have create a separate Layout folder for each page of my construction set? This could be a deal breaker I'm afraid.

Thanks, i switched from PC over a year ago and still am stumbling.

I'm running SU7.0 pro and cannot find my material browser. When i open colors or the paint bucket in the scrollbar titled image the bar is check as spectrum and there exists no opportunity to de-select or scroll to another option.

i hadn't noticed this before but i also had not attempted to paint textures since moving from SketchUp 6. Is this a bug or do i need to install material library?

Thank you for letting me know about the "teaser".

Just an FYI. I was using Layout to "mock up" a website that i am working on for a client. I don't own Photoshop and want to use and learn LayOut as i see it's great potential as a substitute or maybe compliment to photoshop. If LayOut had a cropping option for images "on-board" within LayOut i could use it for story-boarding website design and save lots of time not having to edit in GIMP or other programs.

How can i set-up my layout file to be able to enable this option under PDF Export options. It is illustrated in half tone indicating that the option is not availble in this setup?
