2018 Pro download link?
Hi, Is it still possible to get a link for 2018 Pro V installer for Mac? I'm using 2016 Pro & would like to check it out to see if the 'anti aliasing' issue has been resolved on macs or not. Currently running OS High Sierra 10.13.6. I've read that this has been resolved but still would like to trial it on one of my macs. Thanks

Spinning discs animation
Hi, I have been asked to create a short animation displaying several spinning disc's (similar to gears) but the disc's are spinning at different rotation speeds & the whole image is slowly rotating itself. Is this possible with the animation feature in SKP (v2016 Pro)? or do I need a more sophisticated plugin to achieve this result. Do I nest all the components & then create the animation scenes for each disc independently? I have done a basic search for tutorials but have not found any yet that deals with multiple animated components that are rotating. Any suggestions? thanks

RE: SketchUp 2017 - anti aliasing problem Mac OS Sierra
Hi, Has anyone loaded & tried Mac High Sierra & SketchUp 2018 yet to see if the anti-aliasing issue is still with us. I'm unlikely to be using dual monitors as a work around. In regards to "why" upgrade, other plugin developers are upgrading such as Skalp who I also pay a maintenance fee too & like using their product.

RE: SketchUp 2017 - anti aliasing problem Mac OS Sierra
Does anyone know of any progress regarding the Mac Sierra SKP 2017 anti aliasing situation or the chance of a possible fix/outcome. I've noticed the comment that this issue has been looked into by the Trimble team & that it's a Mac graphics card problem but still doesn't help at all with being locked into v2016 Pro & paying for 2017 which will be up for 'maintanence renewal' in the near future.

RE: SketchUp 2017 - anti aliasing problem Mac OS Sierra
Is there any apparent reason as to why the "Test.set_AA_method(4)" doesn't seem to have any effect in 2017?

No not at present & I'm hoping there will be an announcement for Mac skpers!

Does Sketchy FFD plugin still work on Mac?
Hi, Have just installed Sketchy FFD from the SketchUcation ExtensionStore but it appears not to be working when selected - with the right click edit for FFD group, transform points are visible but not responding when attempting to select them (right or left drag to select handles) to use - Is anyone using this plugin on Mac 10.11.6 El Capitan, SKP Pro 2016?

RE: Modelling an Island using SubD & Vertex Tools?
Thanks yes I've just got onto that & have contacted a drone survey operator, it's quite amazing the amount of information that can be gathered from the drone.

RE: Modelling an Island using SubD & Vertex Tools?
Thanks for all the replies, maybe I was a bit naive with my initial approach & will now need to reconsider the process. Is there any recommended video tutorials that would help me get started with large area terrain modelling?

RE: Modelling an Island using SubD & Vertex Tools?
Mostly I'll be only dealing with the two surveyed areas in my presentations for the Concepts & later Construction drawings as per documentation Sets. This project is for an open ocean fish farming company & they have requested an overall view of the whole project in context. The close views will be isolated to Building perspectives, maybe some early sections & groups of buildings which would only hint at immediate surrounding terrain. Then also some large overviews, birds eye style perspectives as well. Do I need to use two different approaches to achieve the one out come?

RE: Modelling an Island using SubD & Vertex Tools?
I hope this photo reference for my query is helpful, the scale here is deceiving as this island has daily 7 metre high tides. The red shading indicates the survey detailed areas.

Modelling an Island using SubD & Vertex Tools?
Hi, Could anyone offer some advice in regards to modelling an island using SubD/Vertex Tools which is 1.4Kms long. I've recently taken on a project & will be providing some Concepts of building designs to be constructed on an remote island. Never having modelled on this scale before I'm trying to establish a Work Flow approach of some sort using SubD & Vertex Tools. Each end of the Island has been surveyed in detail (the building sites) but the remaining 80% is only Google Earth style basic contours. I have access to some good quality photographs as reference but mainly I will need to interpret visual detail. I've already created a detailed outline of the island using Google Earth in SKP. The Island is mostly quite rugged terrain overall. I'm fairly new to SubD/Vertex Tools & see the advantage of using the Quad mesh. Do you think SubD/Vertex Tools would work for this approach? I was going to break the Island up into large blocks (sections) to work on at first with maybe a grid format of 5000mm? to get started & then infill areas as required. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve

RE: Sharing and updating a Sketchup file
Thanks for the replies, for the moment I'll keep the project areas as components & "save as" to a master model.

Sharing and updating a Sketchup file
Hi, I'm just about to commence a large project and will be sharing the work load with another designer but we will be working from different localities. Has anyone had any experience with plugins such as TommyK's Team Edit for updating a working SKP model. I'm using a mac and the other designer is using Windows 10 but don't see this as an issue, we both run the same SKP version. Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again for the replies, I'll try the plugin suggestions.

Sculpting Contoured surfaces.
Hi, I've been searching for a method to sculpt smaller areas for landscape style concepts. Typically area Lots are residential landscaping (approx 80-50sqm) & I have contours provided for the site which I then Drape a surface over. Is it possible to triangulate the area & be able to sculpt in smaller zones. Do I need to use smaller triangulated areas & what Tool or Plugin would be the best to work with to achieve this. Mainly I'm trying to achieve various different gradients, random step downs, low walls etc. Mostly wall type features are created separately with SKP. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've been using the Stamp Tool & then Soften/Smooth Edges but find this limiting when editing.
