Thanks Andrew,
That's quite effective, I might give it a go.

Hi all,
I hope everyone is managing to deal with the Xmas rush....its got real busy down here in NZ. I have a quick question for the LO gurus of the forum. I am in the process of preparing a site analysis document which is based on an aerial photo. I want to fade out the photo and do some LO line work over the top with a drop shadow. Is this possible in LO?
Thanks in advance for any help you can on this.
Stan
Hi All,
Wouldnt be great if you could reference an excel spread sheet or a word doc into LO so that it behaves similar to a referenced SU
. Does anyone know how far away this capability is or is there a work around that I am not aware of that would enable me do this? Be interested to hear some ideas on this

Stan
I to was having many problems with Bugsplats. What I try to do is keep my complex textures and images in my model to absolute minimum as these I have found to be the main source of my problem in LO. Today I was having no end of problems with bugsplats even when I wanted to change pages. What I found was the logos I had in my title block were far too large and it just didnt like it.

Christian,
Good to see another Kiwi in here. Those drawings you are doing look fine to me....coming from an Architect and not an engineer.

Stan
Thanks Guys, I had the same problem. Excellent info.

Stan
Gai,
Thanks for the tip, I am puting the section cut face and group from section on a separate layer so hopefully I wont have any problems.

Gai,
Your a genius
, you just saved me hours of experimentation to find a solution. I must say, I am really liking the capability of LO now.
Hi All,
I am having problems snapping dimensions to a section cut line in LO. I have used the Sectioncutface plugin to create a face but for some reason it doesn't recognize the line. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Stan
Thanks solo, will definitely check it out.

Hi All,
I am working on a factory at the moment and am looking to import the 3D equipment models in to my SKP model. The company doing the equipment work in solid works and a format I hadn't heard of called universal 3D

I was wondering if any of you had come across this format before and can suggest a good work around to get the U3D files imported into SKP.
Thanks in advance.

Get rid of complex components like cars, trees and furniture and give it another go. If you still want these indicated on the 2D drawings import some DWG blocks into scrapbook and use those. I had the same problem when I was vector rendering and this increased the speed significantly.

Inspirational stuff Pete. Its got me thinking about some ideas now

Mike,
Superb renders, they have a certain crispness and "restraint" that I find very appealing.

Keep up the great work.
Stan
HOLY CRAP, silver, just amazing stuff there mate. I love the detail and the clay renders, all superb.

Stan
Gai,
That did the trick, thanks Mate.

Stan
gai,
Thanks for your response, I never really apply a specific style, I have always assumed the default would apply, I will look in to that and see if it works.
