As a last resort, you could simply bring a ton of furniture into SU...either the stuff you intend to actually use or generic stuff from the Warehouse. Then you could go to plan view (with or without perspective) and do a SU or photoreal render and use the Magic Wand tool in PS to remove the background. Save as a png overlay. It's probably quicker than spending hours scouring the Net.
Thanks Alan, thats exactly what i was thinking!
thanks heaps for the reply... what about furniture? ie chairs, beds etc etc?
Hi
I need to do a 3D floor plan for a friend and I was wondering if there are some aerial images of trees, furniture, kitchens, general household appliances anywhere??
Im planning on doing this in SU and then exporting the aerial view and placing the aerial images in photoshop.
Also, is doing a 3d floorplan in SU ideal? Or are there other programs that can do it in just as much detail? I usually design it in SU and then render it in Vray so the output is pretty good, any other programs out there that can do this at once?
Thanks
mate thats GOLD! Thanks very much!

can anyone do a small newbie tutorial on this?
Please take a look in the Organic Modelling section, where some tutorials already have been posted...
Thanks. saw that earlier but there isnt much there. I suppose I will wait until some of the gurus release some tuts
cant wait!
hi guys
can anyone do a small newbie tutorial on this?
Have just purchased artisan and would love to get my head around subd modelling in sketchup
Would be much appreciated
wow thanks guys...

Hi
At the moment i have a simple method of modelling curtains. I simply use Fredos plugin/Bezier tool and i draw the base of the curtain. From there i push pull it up and thats it! simple!
However, im wanting to learn to do the below 2 techniques, anyone have any idea how to achieve this?
Im also wanting to get in organic modelling as some of the work here is incredible... any direction on this?
Thanks heaps guys!
Hi
I have some furniture models that are in 3ds/obj format. They were obviously created in 3DS. Theyre mot overly complicated models, simple things like couches/chairs.
However everytime I import them into sketchup, it seems to be slow and it crashes!!
Any idea on what im doing wrong? Or is this just how it is?
Im using SU8 and a very spec PC
Thanks
never mind - figured it out... i had to de select the forground option in the styles menu under match photo... it was making it lag
Hi
Using sketchup 8/Vray 1.48
When i import a photo for photomatch, its RIDICULOUSLY slow!!!! Ive tried changing the size of the photo, even as low as 800x600!!! Still really slow!
My PC is brand new and its very high end! Very confused here!!
Any ideas what could be going on??
Thanks
Hi
Have a look to see if youve used any gif images in your textures. Sometimes this can be a hassle and cause issues.
The amount of times Ive had this particular bug is enough for me to look elsewhere for a rendering program! Absolutely shocking considering the price Ive paid for the product.
Look into the menue for vray within SU, it has an option there to force sydc all materials or something along those lines. Just try those also (avoid the first option whatever that is as itll force you to re apply all your textures).
Hope this helps and good luck!
Hi
This is primarily what I like to do. Does anyone have any workflow suggestions on how to achieve the quickest result?
In some cases im able to get a DWG file and work off that, is tehre a workflow on how to build a model from this? I just feel as though i take quiet long to model this way. I seem to take some time to fgure out all the elevation angles and model the house accordingly.
I know this is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question but if anyone can point me in the right directiont hat would be appreciated
Thanks

If there are any other Sketchup and modo users out there, here is the modo configuration file I have been working on.
This CFG changes modo to have Sketchup-like navigation. Not a lot has been changed. Mostly I just changed the rotate/pan etc. to be based around MMB and modifiers, and changed any tools triggered by MMB that I could find to instead be triggered by alt-RMB. If they were set originally at ctrl-MMB I changed them to ctrl-alt-RMB, etc. you get the picture.
Modo CFG's only save changes from the built-in default.
Please let me know if it's useful, or if you find other commands that could be changed.
This was made in the WINDOWS version of modo 501. Might work in other versions.
You can open the file in a text editor to see the changes if you like.
sounds good. how do you load it into modo?
Hi
Just experimenting with textures and lighting. Vray was used along with SU obviously. All modelling done by myself (not that there is much). Post work done in photoshop
Comments and critique wanted pls....
Thanks
looks great!!! Really like it.... in particular the couch, apples (apples - how did you do that?) and the coffee table glass... do you have a vismat for that glass? looks great!
The couch model (including cushions) and textures look fantastic... love it. Was this done soley in SU/Vray? Did you model those yourself? looks very real.
My only criticism is:
** the TV - the Harry Potter screen looks too bright and flat (cant see any reflections?)
** the door handle looks a little weird,
** speakers on the stereo system, the white cones are flat looking.

Have you already tried this plugin?
nice one Massimo - thanks mate ill give it a try tonight. Certainly sounds like the right one

It is possible - but you have a more specific description? Just offsetting? Rotating? By how much?
Hi Thomthom,
Just offsetting will do. I just want to offset the texture so that it doesnt look so repetetive.
Hi
Is there such a plug in for this scenario:
Ive modelled some decking (multiple pieces of timber) and I have textured them all with the same texture. Problem is, the texture looks the same on all of them. Is there such a plug in that can randomly move the texture around instead of me doing it manually?? Ie right click, texture -> position and then move the texture in a different position on various items.
Hope im making sense.
Thanks
