Home architectural modelling workflow ideas/suggestions?
-
Hi
This is primarily what I like to do. Does anyone have any workflow suggestions on how to achieve the quickest result?
In some cases im able to get a DWG file and work off that, is tehre a workflow on how to build a model from this? I just feel as though i take quiet long to model this way. I seem to take some time to fgure out all the elevation angles and model the house accordingly.I know this is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question but if anyone can point me in the right directiont hat would be appreciated
Thanks

Krisidious had a thread on this quite a while ago. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?p=4177#p4177
It may be a starting point, although maybe not exactly what you are looking for. Hope it helps.

If you have autocad you can save yourself a lot of pain in SU if you clean the drawing up in CAD first. Basically, just delete all the layers/linework you don't need in SU. There really aren't too many shortcuts when it comes to blocking out the house though. Are there any particular areas you feel are more troublesome/slow than others? Maybe there are some more specific workflow tweaks we can help you with.

As for cleaning up a drawing in AutoCAD remember the LAYDEL command. More here: http://diplofolio.posterous.com/deleting

Very nice tip. I didn't know about 'laydel'
I'd always done a right click -> select similar -> delete and then purge after i'm done. your method saves a lot of clicking!
