Ok - will edit them in a separate location as suggested.

    • RE: Back up files in component library

Just cos I thought it was a good idea to have a back up and I was trying to avoid having to keep turning the 'save backup' preference on and off, or to keep having to move the skb files any time I make a change to the original. Thought there might be a way to view skp files only and not have to keep moving the backup files out of the folder.

    • Back up files in component library

Is it possible to prevent SU from seeing skb files in a component library folder. Ive saved out several large libraries and have skb and skp files in the folder but SU shows both types and doesn't allow me to see which is which - is there any way to prevent skb files from being on view in the component browser?
      Thanks

    • RE: [Plugin] Material Replacer

Hey Thomthom - don't worry about sending the revised ruby. I hadn't realised that I can invoke plugins using key commands so have set up a keyboard short cut to your material replacer now. Thanks

    • RE: [Plugin] Material Replacer

      Hi thomthom,
Love this plugin by the way. Is it possible to have the material name display whenever using the eyedropper tool and not just when running your ruby script. Having the name of the material display is SOOOO handy and I'd love it if the eyedropper always displayed the material name. Is this possible? I work on mac so currently trying to work out what material is what is pretty tricky due to the absence of a list view in the material browser. Also would it be possible to move the 'material replacer' to a context menu so you could access if using a right click rather than going to the drop down menus?
      Fantastic tool tho - thanks!

    • RE: [Plugin] Statistics v1.0

      Hi Matt666,
I just downloaded your statistics v1.0 plugin and wonder if it would be possible to tweak it so that it gives you a count of components and displays their names - as per the model info > statistics dialogue. Just a thought (and I for one would find it incredibly useful). If it was able to display a total count of each component (as per statistics) rather than a list with no count (as per generate report) that would be amazing!
      Thanks

    • RE: Material Editor is a nightmare!

Thanks TIG for the plugin - its great and Ive been making use of it a lot so far. Im wondering tho if there is any way to view material as a list that are not in open file? I have a material library that Im wrestling (material generally seem to be a proper pain on Mac!!) and what Id like to be able to do is open a file and select material from my material library, not ones that are in the opened document - Im trying to keep materials consistent on files that are worked on by several people (some on Mac and some on PC) so that when we go to render we get the results we are expecting by keeping names consistent.

Am I going about this the wrong way? Is there a way to save a template file that has all the materials that I need and so I can view them using TIG's material from list script? Ideally I want to create a material library that I can view, add to and that I and my colleagues can share . . .

Is there likely to be any movement by Google on the material palet for mac in future releases? I know colour picker is part of the Mac OS but its so clunky compared to the PC material manager window. Being able to view materials as lists and load / save favourites is an essential feature in my eyes . . . Really really wishing I was on a PC at the moment 😞

      Thanks

    • RE: Is there an EXCEL spreadsheet link plugin?

Im interested in this thread but sadly Im no script writer. I don't want to distract from what you are looking to achieve in this thread but it is related to something Im trying to achieve so have started a separate thread and wonder if you wouldn't mind taking a quick look to see if you have any suggestions . . .

      Thanks

    • Multi file component list to excel

      Hi,
This is a longshot but Im wondering if anyone can help me. Id like to find a way to output a list of all components in multiple SU files to excel / spreadsheet format. Im not sure if the plugin would need to have all the relevant SU files open or if it could run like a batch process in Photoshop where you tell it to run the action on all the files in a specific folder? And the icing on the cake would be having the component list save with the same name as the file it came from (so if I run it on 10 named SU files I would get 10 named separate spreadsheets)? Im not a programmer and have never used Ruby before but I know there are some very clever script writers on here so would be very interested to hear anyones thoughts. Ive seen a couple of threads here but haven't found anything yet that will quite do what Im after. Apologies if this totally unrealistic but if I can find away to do this it would save me hours of work!?
      Thanks in advance

    • Material Lister For Mac

      Hi,
Ive written a couple of posts about this trying to find a solution but I wonder if any developers might be able to help. Ive used SU on mac and PC and the material manager on mac seems much less user friendly and capable than the PC version. Im wondering if it would be possible and if any Ruby scripters would be interested in developing a plugin for mac that will enable us to view and select materials by their name. Currently its only possible to view a materials' name by hovering over its thumbnail in the material pallet (and waiting for several seconds for it to display). It also seems that the materials don't display in alphabetical order in this view so its quite hard to keep tract of them and find the one your are looking for.
Is a plugin with this kind of function even possible and is there anyone out there who would be able / interested in writing a ruby script. Ive downloaded several plugins to try to manage materials but none of them allow me to be able to view the materials in the file as a list and select them from the list. I know this is a big issue for a lot of Mac based SU users so would be a very popular plugin.
Any feedback or help with this very much appreciated.
      Thanks

    • RE: Material Lister For Mac

      Thanks Gaieus,
Unfortunately there isn't a list view option - not that I have found anyway, and Ive done a lot of looking. I don't know if any Ruby scripters would be interested in writing a plugin that would allow mac users to get a list view? Do you know where would be the best place to post a request for a material list plugin that allows you to select materials by their name? Not sure if I can just add something to the plugins index or if there's somewhere better to place it?
      Cheers

    • Material Lister For Mac

      Hi,
Does anyone know of any plugin that will enable me to view the materials in my files as a list rather than as thumbnails? I work on mac and have lots of materials that look very similar in thumbnail view. Would like to be able to view and select them as a list so I have a bit more control and dont have to wait for the name to pop up after hovering over the thumbnail.
      Thanks in advacnce

    • RE: Custom scales in LO

      Thanks Gaieus,
Just thought it might be handy if there was a way to type it direct into a field in the View window so you dont have to set it in the prefs. I guess I just need to spend a bit of time getting my LO template sorted out with the most commonly used scales.

    • RE: Batch export named PDFs from layout

Thanks Dave R, cool script. I will definitely be making use of this - this afternoon in fact. It would be even more useful if you could auto assign sequential page numbers in LO too. You could then associate the page numbers to the file numbers? But still a very useful tool and one that will be seing some action soon.

I would still like to know if it might be possible to name PDFs from pages within LO at some time in the future. Our studio like many others names files to send to contractors and being able to ref the names from within LO would be such a great way to keep files in order.

      Thanks again
