If SketchUp opens as in your first post, it means you probably saved it as the default template at some point previously. If Zoom Extents doesn't change it, very likely there is some small line segment or other entity way over in the lower left corner. Open SketchUp, turn on Hidden Geometry in the View menu, and drag a right to left selection box around the left half of the drawing window space. Hit Delete. Hit Zoom Extents. Do you zoom in on the man?

you'd need to model the terrain (ie. the positions of corners as per surveying maps for your site location) correctly, set the solarnorth correctly w.r.t. the terrain then position your axis (x=0, y=0, z=0) is at can be used as reference for the actual geo-location that's how I would do it, very few project require this level of precision though, mostly just locate the model to a known location and set the solarnorth

@rombout said: ...model all those nice special shapes. if you would like to model organic freeform shapes based on exact NURB splines with much less effort you may want check the Punch! ViaCAD series f. OSX/Win. 3D version starts from U$ 99.- (street price lower) and can import SU files too. have fun, Norbert

I'm wondering if you had some invalid geometry that was automatically fixed upon saving the file, thereby deleting it. I am guessing this because the first screenshot is not perfect, looking like there could be something invalid there. And the missing box has happened to me before where SU descided a line is invalid and it deletes it, there by leaving a hole. Its easy to fix by redrawing the needed lines. Chris

I think ineed to work on this part"elsif RUBY_PLATFORM == "powerpc-darwin" then" I think on my imac it passes this on cause i have intel duo core... So if you happen to know the code for this part

With difficulty, althoug thats not a very helpful answer. I think your best bet would be whaats subd and smooth plugin, although it does cost $22 or so. it is very good for organic, flowy shapes such as this. Heres the link: http://www.smustard.com/script/SubdivideAndSmooth

remus thanx for the tip... indeed i was working in mm. but it wasnt that small. i was trying to make a wooden table which has plywood tiles of 500mm x 100mm. but i scaled it and than made the arc without the cut thanks again. ps im working on a imac 24" with leopard. i got this mac on my work just a couple weeks, im not really sure i like it. native im a graphic designer and used to work on amc a couple years a ago. I loved the mac always for it steady system, but this system sucks a bit!!! SU suddenly quits aswell with other programs. i read that tiger is much more stable
