Your Flesh Is Candy To Me???
This thread has intrigued me since Captain asked.
you mention Tig's EbyR plugin. Are you suggesting to have 2 jagged arcs as profiles to create this effect?
Also you mention baking a map. Can Vue take a displacment map and convert to polygon mesh?
Sorry for asking but this caught my attention
I don't like to bump threads but i read this article....
So for those interested i've got 20 invites to share so PM if you want one or two or three...
Majid uploaded a nice set of Deco Fabric materials in the Twilight Forums but only to those members with a Full Licence

Other than that you might find some in the KT forums
They must have sent you my one by mistake.........can i have it back?
Firstly.....Wow, that is a very detailed terrain
Secondly, is this what you are talking about?

Those 'undone contours' are Grouped and SU doesn't make contours from Grouped Geometry.
I must say thanks for that link Jim
And sorry to Dave for sending you on a wild goose chase
Hi,
If you go to the Help Menu > About SketchUp... you'll see this

If you update you'll be fine with plugins etc, but for peace of mind why not backup everything in your plugin folder before updating?
As for your question on updating from hdd or from dialog box, i've not experienced any problem updating from hdd so far but i tend to backup weekly anyway?
Yes, i'm paranoid.....
I also take a screen capture of my toolbars so when i install a new plugin i can arrange them back to where they all were!
Yes, i've OCD too......
Cluck user control panel
then click user groups
choose woodworking forum
save your changes
welcome to scf
my final suggestion is to go here
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/
its got lots of info on convert to various formats and has a great forum with lots of friendly advice...
not like this place
Dave,
did u try the free-ipod-converter?
it will convert your wmv to mov and keep the resolution of your wmv?
@dave r said:
No iPod though.
I'm still using 8-track tapes for music.
you don't need an ipod
it just converts any video to ipod compatible format
well from what I remember there is an iPod converter on either filehippo.com or download.com that I used to have that quickly converted any video file to all sorts of formats
Free iPod video converter. Drag and drop any MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV or WMV file and download an iPod-compatible MP4 in seconds. Works for iPod Classic, Video, Nano and Touch.
iPod Video Converter (www.ipod-video-converter.org)
found it, this is fairly easy to use and does exactly what is says on the tin!
Don't be put off by the iPod part it has resolution outputs great than iPod screen
Enable Sandbox Tools in the Preferences Dialog Box
Then restart SU and in the Tools menu you should see Sandbox. Select it and icons appear on your Toolbar.
One of these is From Contours where you can select contour lines at different heights then run this tool and terrain is generated
Handbrake should do it but I'm not 100%. It's free and has lots of knobs and whistles. And the current version supports 64bit OS
not sure about Mac version
These are top quality renders. I especially like the motherboard, did you model it?
I had same issue on dell latitude ages ago. At the time Gaieus suggested turning off Hardware Acceleration in the 'Preferences' window.
The issue was resolved. I think it was something to do with not having a dedicated graphics card.
I'm not familiar with Mac but it looks similar to my problem!
First off looks what happens when i draw either side of the Blue Axis...

Now i draw 2 object with Faces orientated correctly...

I move one object through another and 'Intersect with Model'...

Now i delete unwanted Geometry...

Do you think it has left the inner face of the deleted object or has just messed up???

But if you right click a correct Face and select 'Orient Faces' it will fix all Back Faces
I'm sure others will weigh in with how exactly SU decides when to display Front or Back but this is my simple view of it
This problem raised it's head in my workplace last year. Previously we used Aircraft Maintenance Manuals (Boeing/Airbus) to produce Training Manuals. When i say 'used' we refer to the manuals for info and interpret to more simplistic meaning. Manufacturers contacted Aviation Training Schools to inform them that use of diagrams/schematics/drawings etc, whether up-to-date or not, could no longer be used in a 'Training Enviroment' unless 'Agreements' had being put in place.
Now we extensively use SU to help produce aircraft components for diagrams within our manuals and in the classroom it's great to show 3D parts to compliment the diagrams within our manuals.
I know it's an unconventional use for SU but i works great for us.
Boeing/Airbus invest heavily to protect their content from being duplicated outside a maintenance enviroment and if this assault on the 3D warehouse holds water, it'll get messy.
It's a shame as hobbyists who model these offer a great incite into aviation and do the aircraft themselves a great justice.
