If u really wanna learn more about clouds and how to identify them you should read 'Cloud Spotters Guide' by Gavin Pretor Pinney (ISBN 978-0-340-89590). It's the most upliftingbook you'll ever read!
After you read it, I recommend you join http://www.cloudappreciationsociety.org, for about €10 you get a cool certificate and of course the honour of now been officially known as a cloudspotter

Hi Mike,
What a great link, thanks. Like yourself i'm definitely gonna pay this man a visit and pick up a print or 2. I'm living in Broadford so I've a little further to drive than you, but glad to know a fellow Irishman and neighbor is a member of this brilliant site.
regards,
Rich
try downloading the free podium plugin to see how your models will look rendered. That's where I started and now I've moved to vray. There's alot to learn but that's half the fun. I'm not brave enough to upload my renders yet but soon I'll take the plunge. You'll get great advice from this site but you'll have to title your posts to match your query to get the right people to answer them. Otherwise you end up with a long useless reply like this!!! From a short useless Irish man
where's the update on your project?
Version 1.5
Thanks for the help
Is that why you wear the sunglasses......because of the late nites????
Here's the project i'm trying to render. It's a wardrobe for the new arrival we're expecting in july.
I'd like to render this with a semi gloss finish so i could show the lady boss what the finished product looks like. To quote herself ' why does sketchup look like a cartoon?'
So i've inherited a laptop with SU6 and VRay and have started to teach myself its workings. So far it winning the battle and i'm losing.
ps, by inheriting i mean that the current global economic meltdown has forced an architect friend of mine to put away the pen and pencils and join the law enforcement brigade.
amazing how a cry for help turns into discussion about future update?
great to hear they are simplifying the UI though , thanks guys!!!
Hi,
Try posting this in http://www.afterdawn.com
It has a great Video/Codec related forum that's very helpful
No one brave enough to answer???
Or is my question so stupid that it doesn't merit an answer???
Hi,
ur problem is that you made the fence 1"x6" rails a component and replicated that component again and again. So when you try to change one rail they all change. Try making the affected rails 'unique' by right clicking and making neccessary adjustments from there
Hi guys,
spent last few evenings designing wardrobe for my first child who arrives in July. I've a woodworker who'll build it but before i submit plan i'd like ye to take a look and offer opinion or even improvements. The lady boss ain't too happy with the depth of drawers but i think the baby will fit it there ok!!!!!
Hi Guys,
I'm an intermediate user of SU and recently got Vray. I struggling to get to grips with it and finding Sketchup related tutorials for Vray is proving very hard.
Could you suggest sites for me to browse to learn using this plug-in?
I followed all the tutorials on the Vray Manual for Sketchup but feel I'm only touching iceberg tip
Any suggestions are welcome.....
Also i use sketchup for modeling aircraft parts and components for use in training apprentices to understand structure better so I'd like to use rendered pictures to add some extra pizazz to my presentations
Hi Guys,
Is there a free program that will record my screen actions so i could show tutorials etc?
welcome and good luck with sketchup
the guys here are super helpful and you'll rarely get stuck
Gaieus , what's the woodpecker forum?
