RE: How to Set the axis of rotation for a component?
i dont know if you'd find this any easier, but i usually draw 2 circles, one perpendicular to the other and centered on the same spot. i find it a lot faster.

RE: Volume Calculator v2...
did you move the file marked 'volume calc (some more filename stuff here).rb' into the plugins directory? if not, you need to move everything you downloaded to program files->google->sketchup->plugins otherwise the tool will not appear in sketchup.

RE: What would you do...
a simple 'adapted from SCF model' will do. thanks alan, i appreciate your concern.

RE: What would you do...
no, i havent done anything. just thought id get some sound advice from the good people. to be honest i dont really mind either, it would just be nice if they mentioned where they got it from.

RE: What would you do...
admitedly it was an adapted version, but yes, the model is mine.

What would you do...
if someone had taken your model and added it to form fonts without your knowledge?

RE: How to make a waterfall?
here you go, feel free to ask questions as its a bit rough around the edges, as tuts go.

Accuracy Vs. ease/speed
just reading a topic in the newbie forums got me thinking, if you have a component to model, where accuracy isn't a particular requirement, would you go for a less accurate but faster method for modelling it, or try and make it as it is in real life?
personaly id probably go for faster, altohugh if there's a considerable difference in the end result id probably go for a more accurte model.
and sorry if this is in the wrong forum, move it if you want.

RE: Interior using Podium 1.5 (new thread )
as good as ever, although im not a particular fan of the watercolour version. i think its the chairs, they just dont seem very convincing, i think its the sketchy edges

RE: Copyright and a 2D historical person
i suppose it depends how close the similarity is, if its basically a copy, your probably stepping onto dodgy ground, if theres a bit of artistic license thrown in, you'll be fine.

RE: Intelligent Image Resizing "Seam Carving" Online
thats wicked!i especially like the erasing people thing, looks a lot easier than ps. just got to find something to use it for now.

RE: Podium question
cheers alpro, some useful tips there. i think the residual blue there is something to do with the model, rather than lighting or anything, i cant remember specifically what was wrong with the model, but theres definetly something not right.

RE: A New Market for Good Design?
i think this is wheres apples success lies, they make good stuff that people like to use at a price that is above average but still affordable. i think people have latched onto the fact that it's well designed and so are willign to fork out a bit extra.
wether this market will extend to other things is hard to say, of course.
