RE: Extrude lines along path
i was talking about the vector which the line must follow, so although you can extrude curved lines, you canot extrude curved lines along a curved path, and as i understand it, this is what fletch is looking for.

RE: Euro hinge
i thoght i saw something weird...where have the shadows gone!? would look a lot nicer with shadows, in my opinion. good refelction and stuff, though.

RE: Skateboarding..
number 3 looks quite "interesting"! really cool models though, must be really useful for visualising the end product.

RE: Watercolor...
Its a nice effect, but like you said, i think it could do with a bit more background and a bit more foreground. perhaps a better grass texture as well, all just fine details really

Pot Plant
its not really a component, file size is way too big (and its aobut 9000 faces ) but i dont consider it good enough for the gallery, anyway, here it is, my attempt at a pot plant.

RE: Now, exteriors
very nice, i thnk you've got the lighting just right, especially on the first one, it looks almost real. well done! only thing i reckon you could improve on is the grass, looks a bit flat to my eyes.

RE: Extrude lines along path
your right, it only works with 2 points you specify, so wouldnt work for a curved line or a series of lines.

RE: Some musings
cheers frederik, seems a lot easier than i thought it might be.

RE: Extrude lines along path
i know didiers got a ruby that projects a line along a vector, not sure if it does it along a path though. The ruby's called projection.rb or something similar.

RE: My World Trade Center 3D Model
i look forward to it, especially if you were to do a render of all the buildings together SU would undoubtedly have a very hard time dealing with a model that large though

RE: My World Trade Center 3D Model
that is seriously very sweet model, and the detail! wow! im runnign out of superlatives...
-
RE: Single Image 3D Reconstruction
looks pretty interesting, i suppose if you had a bit of time to mess around with it you could place SU (or similar) models into the image

RE: Antivirus recommendations?
i perosnally use zonealarm, its a bit clunky on vista but the XP version is good. As several people have mentioned, kaspersky seems to get good reviews so i probably a safe bet. If you dont feel like forking out theres always the free option of AVG, you can download it here: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0 worth getting both the anti-virus and anti-spyware ones if you do go for AVG.

RE: Exporting 2d graphic
sorry i cant be of any more use, but there are known issues surrounding image exports, there was a thread here about it, although i cant seem to find it, sorry.

RE: Townhouse Project
nice model, and a cool looking building as well. I especially like the look of the little balcony bits in the roof. And you should really do a render if you get time, it could be wicked!

RE: Why don't section planes like my components?
I can't think why the section planes won't cut the components, but as a rather tedious workaround you could explode the components and group them instead. It might be worth trying to group al the gemetry your trying to cut, although I haven't tried this so it probably won't work.

Some musings
i was just wondering, would it be possible to embed a version of SU into a webpage? it would be very useful for showing people models, and possibly doing some lightweight modeling if the need arose.
i know bugger all aobut programing and web pages and things, so feel free to point out that it wont work.
