RE: Open Ruby scripting in LO for CD development
No, SU is written in c++ (or some other variant of c.) I think the ruby api works by calling the relevant c++ functions in SU when a script calls the equivalent ruby method. Id guess a ruby api for LO would work in similar fashion.
To sbsaint, it has certainly been mentioned before. Would be worth sending a PM to bjanzen and seeing if theres any update.

RE: Sketchup and frustration

And could there be some way, that someone at Sketchup, certify that a plugin is written in such way that it "should not", (not looking for a guarantee) interfere with Sketchup. So there could be a list of certified plugins and a plugin writer could lists his/her plugin as being certified as not destructive.
I can quite confidently say that would be a very wasteful exercise. Plugin authors themselves have a hard enough time getting their plugins working properly and they know the code like the back of their hand. For somebody unfamiliar with the code to try dissect even a moderately complex plugin would take an age.
A minor point though, i agree with the main jist that the greying out bug is extremely annoying.

RE: Unable to scale
Very strange. My findings so far: something to do with the long faces, none of which will scale individually. The end faces do scale, however.

RE: Just a minute!!!!!
I wonder if thered be more mileage in a system where people pay for the goods then we send off for them. A lot easier and cheaper to setup than a full blown shop and gets rid of having to worry about posting etc.

RE: When is SketchUp going to become a 21 century app?
Although i agree that SU could do with begin better at handling larger meshes (especially importing and grouping) i think comparing SU and meshlab is misleading given that meshlab is specifically designed for handling large triangulated meshes.
From the meshlab site:

The system is aimed to help the processing of the typical not-so-small unstructured models arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes.

RE: Planes or Volcano
It is indeed bad, but its an improvement on what the situation would normally be. Cant really see why thats a bad thing in itself.

RE: IPad Review
Certainly worth waiting for iphone OS 4 i reckon, then you may get a price decrease/improved features with the added bonus of being able to use multiple programs etc.

RE: Planes or Volcano
Relative to if there was no eruption there is less CO2 being emitted (according to this graphic anyway), so im not really sure what the problem/point is?

RE: The A show (post your Thea images)
Its basically a feature that allows you to control the intensity of light sources in the scene after youve finished rendering. As an example, imagine you have a room lit from a window and 2 intreior lights, using relight you could do one daytime image with the scene lit entirely from the window and then a night image lit entirely by the interior lighting, and you get all that from a single render.

RE: Red, Yellow or Blue?
Interesting to hear an 'outsiders' point of view, cheers pete.

RE: Red, Yellow or Blue?
Blue is conservative which is roughly equivalent to your republican party (or whichever party is on the right.)
