SketchUp and OBJ edge problem
Hello, guys
So I love sketchup for modeling architecture, but I have one problem now days I want to use modo for the detailed area's of my model and my UVW mapping but I have one problem. When exporting my OBJ too modo I get triangulated faces and I really hate that. It looks ugly and is a bitch to UVW when I need too.
How would I get rid of them when exporting, I have used the cleanup tool with sketchup but it does not get rid of the unnecessary edges for my models.
Thank You

RE: Component Snapping by Face, Edge, Vertex?
Hmm look at that Alt does nothing just shift...but yea its a pain when you got a few more selected when trying to snap them another problem is my components are along way from where i want to snap them most of the time.

RE: [Plugin] Group PushPull 2DFaces (v0.4) Oct 20, 2010
This is good for old game engines due to the fact they only work with groups and basic solids, That way I can create my walls with doors and windows in a flash !

How about this? I had some code that did something close and did a quick mod. The thickness, you will have to manually change in the ruby at the top. You start with 2D faces, select all and then use the plugin.

I think he wants to find a tool to split a single solid into multiple solids in order to have a game engine process the model, as it doesn't read just a hole in a wall.
Solid tools does it but it's tedious and changing everything to groups. I think he wants to slice or cube up a component by drawing edges on the face, selecting the edges and running a plugin. There is nothing like this that I know of, but it would be handy.
Yea that is correct sorry if I cant explain it right guys. never could explain things Will have to give this one a go it may be tedious but will work. Thanks again for the videos will love for a plugin like this!

RE: (Wanted) Plugin Auto Create Face
I tryed what you have said but I get minor problems such as not matching it 100% which makes one of my solids higher. I tryed a few different methods aswell but they failed also also when you create a 2d rectangle on another plan then pull/push on it it tends to only make one face also maybe I will just have to do it the long way. Here is another example of what I am trying to explain..hope it helps
Basic cutout of a window.
This image is what I cannot do otherwise it cant get imported
This image is the way it has to be done just like basic lego building -
RE: (Wanted) Plugin Auto Create Face
Thanks for the replys but they do not work for me in what I am trying to do. They may but I am just not getting it. I want to add a line or slice in a block and make two groups from that one block from using the line or slice The program I want to import them into is a game engine but it only allows solids in a none complex matter. I have draw a diagram to try help what I am asking for now I could just use the line tool but having to pull everything apart on each break is very time consuming. Here is my diagram I hope it helps in what I am trying to explain. Thanks again!

Could you clarify that question? Maybe give an illustration of what you want.
Ive got one group and I want to cut that in half to make two groups, not slice it up all the way through my model.

what about if you only want to slice down one line of your group?

(Wanted) Plugin Auto Create Face
Hey guys
I am trying to find a plugin that will auto create faces where I had just cut on my model so that it can be divided in to two solids instead of one. Been searching a while now and have not found one like it. I have seen a few where you can cut it but leaving a opening on your object. If someone could create a plugin like this it would be greatly appreciated. Will even pay you some money due to the fact it will greatly decrease my game level build times in half.
Thanks.

RE: Close Group to Solid Object Question.
When I start cutting up the wall with lines it then leaves a opening at the end of where I had cut it. I dont want that to happen when I cut it I would like it to place a face on both sides of where it was cut that way it is not hollow if you understand what I mean

Close Group to Solid Object Question.
Hey guys
I was wondering if there are any plugins for something like this. I am trying to make it so that when I cut a wall up that from where I cut it it will then create a face for me there. This is what I mean ( pictures can make 1000 words) I would still like to have my walls together just that the program I want to export them to needs to be to a simple block type style.
Thanks for Reading
