Fredo continues to blow my mind. I now have a new tool to add to the toolbox, but this doesn’t do exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Cut opening in plane
Has a routine been put together that would cut true openings in a plane based on the cutting edges of a cutting component?
Basically, I have a tool that will subdivide a plane into smaller planes (think lap siding) but if I have a window that cuts an opening, the tool doesn’t see the 'cut' of the window. I need a tool that, after I place my windows/doors, I can use to do a true cut into the plane the window is glued to.
Intersect with selection creates a cut in every location where a window and plane intersect, so that doesn’t work well. My recourse currently is to draw a rectangle on my plane, hide my window, and delete the inner plane in the opening.
Thanks.

RE: Create new face with cut openings
It is not difficult to do manually. Just draw a rectangle at opposite corners around your window component and delete the new face to create a hole. It just takes some time. I thought for sure a routine to do this would have already been created.

Create new face with cut openings
Does anyone know of a ruby that will create a new face that would include component cut openings?
I was planning to use the Oob layouts extension to create siding. It works by creating a new patterned face from an existing face. However, it doesnt account for window and door openings that are cut by components. The newly created face runs right across the openings.
If i had a ruby that would create a face with holes where the 'cut by component' openings are, I could use that face to create siding with the oob layout routine.

RE: [Plugin] Xref Manager
I am having problems importing DWGs for xref purposes with TIGs XREF Manager. When I import the drawing, I get the error shown below. This happens on two machines, both running the same setup.
What is odd is the -++ at the end of the .dwg extension. Its almost if the script is adding additional characters to the file path.
Using Sketchup 8.0.15158
Windows 7 Home Premium
Importing 2004 DWGRuby console reports:
Error: #<NoMethodError: undefined methoddefinition' for nil:NilClass> C:/PROGRA~2/Google/GOOGLE~1/Plugins/XrefManager.rb:566:in
