Thanks TIG, C:/Users/Ralph/AppData/Roaming/SketchUp/SketchUp 2015/SketchUp/Plugins/MSPhysics/win64/2.0/msp_lib.so is there!!

There was no "installation" I just downloaded the zip file, unzipped and copied to the Plugins folder.

The "missing" file msp_lib.so is the MSPhysics\win64\2.0 folder.

I'll try again this time un zipping directly to the plugins folder possible something was missed with the copy paste but the reported missing file is there.

How does one "align the axis of the component to the face of the screen"??

Here is what I am trying to illustrate:

      http://gettheworkdone.net/images/sketchup/Angle screen 1.jpg

      http://gettheworkdone.net/images/sketchup/Angle_screen_2.jpg

I need to illustrate a projector with a screen.

      Neither one is on a X Y Z plane.

The 4' x 4' screen needs to have the projector at 90°.

All of the tools only work in X Y Z.

I made a projection from the screen, but it was tough and I cannot get the angle!!

      Thanks for the help.

    • RE: Size editing ?

A lot of 3D Cad programs use Dimensions and Constraints.

You do not have a object until you dimension it.

When you change a dimension you change the object.

Is there anything similar in Sketchup? I am just re-starting to use it.

What exactly is the tiny faces problem?

Is Sketchup Pro 2015 better able to do 3D printing?

I stopped using Sketchup back in 2012 because Sketchup had so many holes in it's drawings.

The drawings were nice and everything "looked" good but there were always lots of holes and you can not 3D print with holes.

I tried to search for 3D printing but all I get is advertisements.

This community was always so helpful in the past, I sorta missed you.

Thanks every one, it appears that there is hope.

Also it would be a good thing if you tell us what you want to create, it is difficult to advise you if we don't know where we go.

gilles my original question has the .skp with the complete project and some pictures.

I have been using SuSolid and have it down to just 5 or 6 errors, all of the obvious problems have been fixed. Possible with Solid Inspector and SolidSolver I can finish cleaning it up.

Boy, I am going to have to start making some more donations, wish I had a income maybe I can make my 3D printer pay.

Thanks again, I really appreciate the help and obviously need it, but I am getting there.

My head is swimming. Some times the "Divide" option appears and some times not.

I've gotten my face but the model is impossible to make solid.

I am going to be doing 3D printing not just modelling so I have to have solids.

Pilou, your second image "click 4" is on a straight line. I can not get TIGs Extrude Edge by Rails to utilize a straight line!

Even making everything a curve I am still not able close the face. I have made some great shapes but nothning as simple as a closed face.

Ah thanks again Pilou. Matching the line segments makes sense. Now what would happen if I welded all of the lines around the perimeter? Would I end up with a face or somehow make one?

Thanks again I am learning so much,

Thanks Frenchy, that looks like it might do what I need.

Not sure about what exactly the first image is showing. But I have downloaded the Recurve plugin and I have TIGs already so I'll see what I can do.

You see in the first image the extraneous face.

In the second image I got rid of the extraneous face but now I am faceless.

The missing face is on two curves, I could do with a straight face across the narrow section.

Does this make any sense? Remember this is the newbie forum, thank God.

    • RE: Extrude angle around curve?

I am in absolute AWE, Dave. 😍 I was able to pull the bottom line down to the 70mm I needed (took a couple of tries).

      http://gettheworkdone.net/3Dprinting/SketchUp/DAVEangle.png

I still would love to know how you did it.

Plus what you did is a solid I do not have to clean it up at all.

Thanks so much, now I can move on to my destined fate in 3D printing.

Well actually I need to do some severe messing with the model so I'll be back.

    • RE: Extrude angle around curve?

Ok Dave how did you do it??

It looks like TIGS Extrude Edges by Face would be what I want to use but it does not work, for me.

I have the face selected and the path but only get a message box to "Select a Face and Path"

I need to make the angle 70mm deep not the 7mm I had.

My printer is coming in a couple of weeks and I need to have some models ready.

TIGs Extrude tools are sure fun to play with but so far no success.

To bad this seems like a rather common thing to do even in architecture.

My path was around the lid (upper).

The lid originally was the lower body just expanded a little.

I believe I have TIGs Extrude tools.

Ok I have been fighting with this for a while.

Follow Me follows the curve but it makes it's own path not the selected one.

A picture is worth a thousand words so here is the .skp file:

      http://gettheworkdone.net/3Dprinting/SketchUp/Blower2aa.skp

Follow the scenes to see my problem.
