I have been drawing a big amount of good 3D objects with SketchUp Version 8. You just have to make things correctly. I use Netfabb basic to check my errors or close holes. NFB helps me a lot! Scaling or not halving 0.1 mm makes things easier. I have found Sketchup easy to learn and my drawings are getting better all the time. You can try purely mathematical program OpenScad.

Thanks every one, it appears that there is hope. @unknownuser said: Also it would be a good thing if you tell us what you want to create, it is difficult to advise you if we don't know where we go. gilles my original question has the .skp with the complete project and some pictures. I have been using SuSolid and have it down to just 5 or 6 errors, all of the obvious problems have been fixed. Possible with Solid Inspector and SolidSolver I can finish cleaning it up. Boy, I am going to have to start making some more donations, wish I had a income maybe I can make my 3D printer pay. Thanks again, I really appreciate the help and obviously need it, but I am getting there. Ralph

I didn't use a plugin for it at all. [image: WiSx_blower1.png] I started with the lid and the shape of the base section. (I don't know what those parts are called so I'm making up names.) I also extended the curve at the base of the tab. I selected the inner face and its bounding edges by double clicking the inner face. Then I got the Move tool and while holding Alt to invoke AutoFold, moved the selection down the required distance. It is possible with a shape like this that the bevel won't be exactly accurate all the way around but by turning on Hidden Geometry, deleting some unneeded edges and adding some needed ones, the clean up will go quickly. After the bevel was finished, I just used Push/Pull to extend the base down as needed. To make it solid you just have to eliminate any internal faces and make sure there are no holes or stray line segments. Blower2B.skp

Well I played around with the model for a couple of days trying to manually do the chanfers with mixed success. So thought I'd try the Fredo6 Round Corner Plugin. I had a heck of a time getting that to work but eventually I managed and now it is working great. So once again thanks every one for the help. Ralph

Hi Ralph, hi folks. @ralphxyz said: Hey Johnny (Jean Lemire), I hope you do not mind if I hack (reuse) your skp tutorial layout. Of course, hack it to your heart content. You will probably find that its is very easy to create your own multi scenes tutorials from scratch. Read below. @ralphxyz said: Of course I'll need to learn how to add and remove tabs but that will come with usage. Ralph Read the help about Scenes. You can create scenes with View Menu --> Animation --> Add Scene. This will create Scene 1 with its tabon top of the model window. Then, with a right click on this tab, you obtain a context menu allowing adding scenes, deleting the current scene, updating it, etc. You also get an access to the Scene Manager which allows you a lot of control about many parameters. Just ideas.

Well thanks Dave R for the time you spent helping me with this. Of course I had to change the model you worked on and ended up with more holes. Which Solid Inspectorshowed me but I was not able to manually make the repairs. So I purchased the SuSolid Plugin. Wow what a tool that is, it works so well. I keep trying to understand SketchUp and work these problems out but so far, for my two biggest ones using a Plugin was my answer. Well thanks again Dave and I am definitely using the things you showed me. Ralph

Wow Jean, thanks so much. That is a great tutorial. Luckily we are having winter weather, unlike last year, so I am able to spend some good time just playing with , oh er, I mean working with SketchUp 8 Pro. Your method would work with the free version and Pro, one of the reasons I went with Pro was the "Solid Tools" specifically for the Subtract method of which I have a new challenge. I just posted a new question about Holeshttp://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=50714&e=0. My top surface has some bumps so I cannot just push object one through object two, or I would have to know how to make some dimples on the top inside surface. Thanks once again Jean. Ralph
