Thanks everyone for the compliments again!

I think this is a very strong and beautiful project. The textures look absolutely amazing along with the modeling.
I think if you want to enhance the "story" that most people feel small and powerless, I would simply add a small silhouette of a person against the ominous sinking ship. That little add in composition will allow people to draw that connection and relate to it. It's such a simple and effective strategy, look at how the CG artist "beeple" has done this.
Otherwise, great job overall on the images you've produced
Steve
Thanks Steve! Yes, I think that could indeed be interesting. I considered it, but I think I didn't want to make it too clear. But I think you are right, it would put everything into scale very quickly.

I get the background now, the black and white image is right up there for render/image of the year.
There is a program out there documenting how some of the landmarks of today would look in a future without people to maintain them. One of the studies is an Iowa class battleship and it it quite something to watch. A lot to think about. Thanks for posting this.

I think the modelling and idea is very good.
The first image though, I feel, is a bit boring.
No dramatic lighting, no dramatic compostion.
What is the "story" you want to tell?
Is that told in the most effective way?I don't mean to sound harsh. Just some ideas how to improve.
...and I could be totally wrong.I think you have an interesting point Pixero and I actually agree. I think if I would do this project again I would do it differently and think more about how I could tell the story in an interesting, probably more dramatic way.
This is what I was thinking of when I created the concept:
All kinds of changes are happening in our world today:
molecular nanotechnology is rapidly evolving, our climate is drifting
and artificial intelligence might take over the world. Most people feel small and powerless facing all these big changes.
Do we have any influence or are we just spectators who sit and watch?I created the concept of a sinking cruise ship as
a metaphor for our society as a whole. -

RE: Spaciship? Spaciship!
Nice! So cool!
I have a suggestion: maybe you can make some kind of angry mouth at the front? I mean, not with actual teeth maybe, but just so it gets a "face" a bit more. You know?
This kind of thing, but not so obvious: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ca/94/42/ca9442abb6eda672bf39c1beaa6bb08e.jpg

RE: Hotrod WIP
That's quite a cool car. I'm curious to see how you are going to make the back lights!

RE: Another rover thing
Looks already really cool Bryan! Maybe I would remove the door that is sticking out on the side in between the two wheels. I feel it disturbs the dynamic shape of the car a bit.
Otherwise really cool shape!

RE: Vray - Light coming through wall joins
Thanks Ludnid. I had the same problem and your trick seems to work!

Scale the model without changing the scene
Hello,
I have a question.
I have made a complicated model that is ment to be an illustration. It consists of a lot of buildings. Now I would like to change the global scale of the model (3 meters should be 4 meters) with the tape measure tool.
The only problem is that I would like to keep the exact same view in the scenes. It took me a long time to set them up.
The problem is that, when I change the global scale, the scenes don't move along.
Does anyone knows a solution to this please?
Thanks in advance!
Pieter

Hey Tobobo,
Thanks, I have used illustrator to arrange the pieces.

Hey Notareal,
All the peices are done with lasercutting, but I have done the angled corners with the saw.

RE: A plugin to move the sun in a more practical way?
Thanks Rv1974! I didn't think of the toggle north tool.
How would you use TIG's 45 degree shadow plugin for this purpose?

A plugin to move the sun in a more practical way?
Hello,
I was wondering if there exists a plugin you can use to move the sun in a more practical way then the time-of-the-year system? I am working on a project with a lot buildings and I would like to test result with the sun coming from different angles. It would be cool if I could just move it with angle parameters in degrees.
Does anyone know of a tool I could use for this?
Thanks!
Pieter
