It is a handy thing sometimes as you can easily drag and drop materials from one window to the other (say when you have just made a new material of an imported image from scratch and want to keep it in one of your libraries)

I've forgotten to say that somitimes, months ago, everything worked. The machine are not slow (2gb ram , dual core etc)
