RE: First 3d print... couple of questions
Which printer are you going for? I'm looking at some myself...I don't expect the resolution to be amazing but need something good enough for prototypes. There are so many printers coming out it's hard to know what is going to remain current. Makerbot looks nice and simple but resolution isn't amazing.

RE: First 3d print... couple of questions
Nice! It was hard to tell from the pics, I thought it was floating.
Which material did you settle for? Different colours? I'm well into 3D printing at the moment.
Yes please share pics when you get one.

RE: First 3d print... couple of questions
did you print this?
the loop needs to be intersected with the model for it to be a solid....at the moment the loop looks separate to the model and is clipping the surface. Intersect and delete any internal geometry/faces.

Cheers Oli.... I'll try spend some time sifting through.
If you need any specific help please do not hesitate to message me or point me towards one of your threads. I really don't mind helping people out. Subdivision modelling is extremely fun. Yes I did just say that. FML.

I think there is a market for these Oli! I can see these sitting on a bedside table displaying all sorts of battery powered devices!
lol you're filth Richard!
But yes there is a market i'm being inundated with messages but I have to sell them on pre-order because the lead time for printing is 5 weeks at the moment! I've had a few shops email me too which is nice.
I got banned from a facebook group for advertising....then the admin messaged me asking for a bulk price on all the stands. No need to say I told them where to go!!!

RE: Ceramic 3D Prints
I do have youtube stuff but its really old and nothing to do with Artisan really.
Yes this was all made completely inside SU using only the Artisan plugin and TIG's Split Donut.
Cotty's Artisan thread has every bit of info you need really, just stick to quads if possible and avoid too many poles and n-gons. Subdivision modelling takes some patience to get accurate shapes but it does work. Some trial and error involved.....but thom thom's Sub-D plugin should eliminate the guess work in the future as it's non-destructive.

What does "traditionally slip cast" mean? Thanks mate! Slip Casting is a traditional manufacturing technique for casting ceramic shapes. It involves the use of a silicone mould and the ceramic is forced into this mould. The problem is; you can not achieve these shapes with traditional techniques; it would be impossible to remove the mould. All angles would have to be 45 degree fillets to allow the mould to be pulled off.
Essentially, these can only ever be 3D printed. Which is cool....but quite expensive. You can't achieve these tight radii any other way basically.

RE: FREE SHRUBS AND HEDGES!
hello brassica sorry for the late reply.
I used fur plugin. If you break the hedge up into more regular mesh then the results will be better.
These are quite dated now (and my "mesh" skills have improved much since then lol) ; I have much better ones in the Podium Browser if you need a load more.

Your black "vase" inspired me to try this material Cotty so thanks for sharing. I appreciate what you do in this forum.
