yes, sketchup modeling in max would be great. But i don't think this is possible...

RE: Edit Images on Server?
Yes, sure... i meant what would you like to do instead, if you want to show a new image but you don't want to replace the old one? How should this work?
-
RE: Edit Images on Server?
no, with overwriting i meant replacing the image file on the server with a newer version.

RE: Edit Images on Server?
Yes, if google image search is using hash code comparison then every manipulation will result in a different image.
But what would you like to do then if you don't want to overwrite the image? -
RE: Edit Images on Server?
How did you (he) build your website?!?
With Adobe Contribute?
If yes, why can't you edit your image, update it in contribute and reupload it?
I think, i don't understand your problem...Your "website" is stored in a folder on the server and consists of separated files like html-files, and maybe scripts or images. You can simply replace a file in this folder (or subfolder) with an ftp-client if it is not possible with contribute (which i can't believe).
And your webhoster should have something like an ftp client on his service pages if you login under your account...
I think 'edit image in external application' means that you can specify an image editor like photoshop to be opened when you click this function.

RE: Overexposed parts problem ( Maxwell Render )

I don't always understand how other people are managing there lights. Like, when you have a look at this image in attachement. (made by http://nemostudio.pl) you can see that the sun is casting bright rays of light on the floor in the living room, but at the same time all the rooms in the appartement are lit very evenly and diffuse.
I think this is a very special example and not comparable to your situation. I would say that this is lit without ceiling/walls with one or two emitters in front of the windows to simulate the sun.
When you look at the next two images of the interior renderings section on this site (http://nemostudio.pl/wizualizacje/wizualizacje_wnetrz/ ) below the one you posted, you will see a similar situation like the one in your renders.

RE: Overexposed parts problem ( Maxwell Render )
This is a normal problem like in real photography...
If you have an extremely bright outside and only a relatively small opening the outside will be overexposed if you set up the exposure to match the inside.
And btw. you first image is totally overexposed, not only the part on the countertop - there is almost no contrast in the image at all...What would you do in reality?
To balance the lighting you can add lights on the inside or take two shots with different exposures and combine them in post. The opening you added in the back should help. I think the blinds are increasing the rendertime not the opening. It's more difficult for light to enter the room now.
What is the material of the blinds. Reflective white? Metallic? This will add caustic noise. The burn value should be at 0.8 to keep it realistic.
And be careful with your materials. No reflectance 0 values above 235-240!!! (absolute maximum 242)

RE: Thermal paste application

I think I'll make some tests, clean and reapply just to be sure it is spread correct.
But don't go crazy about it... if you don't get it completely wrong there will be only a marginal difference of a few degrees, like the tests show. Just don't use too much paste.
Maybe it's more important to fasten the cooler evenly and get the right pressure on it. -
RE: Advanced Camera Tools - Lock Camera doesn't work
Yes i meant the frustum.
No, you can only toggle the layers for "Camera_FOV_Volume" and "Camera_FOV_Lines".
But switching these off will not avoid the clipping problems - like any large geometry in sketchup. But i have found another solution now to avoid these problems. I use the ACT-camera only to set up the scene and then i add a normal scene with the same settings and delete the ACT scene...

RE: Thermal paste application
I used to apply it to the cpu, but i never had a cooler with direct heatpipes. This test shows they can make a difference.
Normally i use the "spread" method because i think i have more control over it, but using a VERY thin layer of paste not as much as in this test!
Maybe one other solution for this bumpy surface would be to fill only the grooves an then apply a tiny dot on the cpu.
edit: i just found this http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/hp/hphs_method.pdf

Component shadow option "Face Sun" is not working properly
I don't know if this is how it is meant to work, but the "face sun" shadow is only ~1/3 of the face-me component at 90Β°.
Not really useful...

Advanced Camera Tools - Lock Camera doesn't work
Is it only me, or is the "lock camera" feature of the ACT broken?
Every time i have a saved ACT-scene selected and zoom/pan/orbit the camera position gets adjusted. No matter if the camera is locked or not.
Why does a saved scene gets adusted at all?My solution for now is to create a normal scene for evey ACT-scene which i select before i move change view...

And another question:
Is it possible to avoid these stupid huge FOV-Volumes and lines? They always produce a viewport clipping. For now i delete the lines and remodel the volume for every new camera but this is quite annoying.

It took maybe 20 years for 3D software to be truly what it should be.
mmh... could it be that you needed 12 years of these twenty years, to realize this? i mean... sketchup is available since quite a while now... since 2000 if i remember correctly

RE: New Computer
so did you try everything above and it's still not working?
btw. the fans and hdd are starting while you see your black screen? or nothing? -
RE: [Plugin] TIG.splitsausage
oh... unbeleivable that i missed this one before... Thanks for bringing this up again, Dave.

Great plugin! thank you very much! i will try it

OH... i would say this is a not too unimportant detail... that was missing in your first description. So this sounds like it could be a bigger problem. Hopefully the board is not damaged now...
I would check all connections once again and then make a BIOS (UEFI) reset (CMOS clear) - look in the manual how to do it.
Then see, if you get a post screen and can enter the UEFI.
If yes, make the complete install once again. If not...
