RE: For Whom the Bell Tolls - wip
can you explain your modeling process for the volutes??

RE: New method for roads on a Terrain
the final product looks very clean, thank you for sharing

RE: [Request] Script to produce window openings in walls
i wonder if you could model the window recesses/sills/surrounds as a dynamic component. This way, you could just place your dynamic component, and only have to cut out the front and back of the wall manually (or can you include a dynamic component that cuts holes as well?)

RE: Stone Stables / Coach House Conversion
ah those new shots definitely explain the situation! nice to know your reasoning on the design - it looks like a very fun (challenging?) project to work on

RE: INDOOR SWIMMING POOL (5TH VRAY PRACTICE)
lian, how are you setting up your exterior light?

RE: Stone Stables / Coach House Conversion
awesome reuse and great model. i have to ask though - why are you hanging on to the red shed? seems like it should be ripped off or its function separated from the home

RE: [Plugin] 'Camera2Vue.rb'
a quick question about the process included in the .zip - while this script puts the camera in the correct location, how do you ensure that the imported .obj comes in at the same coordinates? in my experience the object is always centered on 0,0,0 in vue regardless of coordinates in sketchup - or does the script track the camera's relative location to the geometry's center point?
hope this makes sense!

RE: Hommage to blade runner
matteo - thanks for the tip! clever use of photomatch and the effect is very nice

RE: Hommage to blade runner
how did you manage to line up the vue export with the sketchup export so well?

RE: Models in realistic Terrains and creation of roads
Karl-
to create embankments and reintegrate the road, simply lift it above the terrain and use the stamp tool, here is an example with your file
- put the road in a separate group from the terrain
- select the road
- click the stamp tool
- set the offset distance from the road (width of the embankment)
- click on the terrain
- click again to set the relative height of the road to the terrain

RE: Models in realistic Terrains and creation of roads
i have to agree that max seems to have the solution you are looking for, but you could probably do most of the up-front work shown in the video with follow me tool??

RE: Models in realistic Terrains and creation of roads
karl- I had trouble understanding what you are asking for.. Is one of the examples below correct? These are very fast/crude examples so I apologize if they are not clear.

RE: A try an HDRI
@david, I don't think I have ever laughed because of a render before about the black glass - I like to use the same look. I think people over do glass in their renders which causes an unrealistically flashy effect. When I look at most buildings with similar windows to your render, the glass always appears dark and more opaque in the sunlight - if anything I would say your windows are not dark enough! I suppose it is up to debate

RE: East 8th Hotel
great work - it is very difficult to photograph and render interior spaces like that. A lot of good details and attention to material choices! I noticed that the floor in the last render seems a little intense on the reflection and bump though - not as subtle as some of the surfaces in the other renders
-
RE: First post...
your floor plan sections are very informative - gets the idea across very quickly. Your basement level looks like it is floating in comparison to the other two floors which are set in the site - maybe you have to model some earth around it??
-
RE: New renders...(redux+new)
would love to see the original exports. I like the colors and texture in the closeup, but have to agree that the sky is very intense!

RE: Institute of Architects of Brasil HQ (Podium renders)
I would like to hear more about the screen system you are using!
