    • RE: [Plugin] Animator - v4.5a - 22 Jul 25

      Hi Fredo

I have just downloaded your wonderful plugin and specially like the detailed control over keyframes management (easing etc) and the ability to render animations on vray. However, you have not built support into it so as to be able to render animations outside of the local environment (ie, vray cloud for instance) as 99% of professional animation renderings happen over render farms and not on local systems. Vray cloud https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray/cloud is the new rendering platform by chaosgroup like other 3rd party render farms out there and currently is in beta, free for testers. We are trying it out, and it indeed is good.

Is it possible to export out Keyframes from Animator as Sketchup Scenes (complete with easing values etc), so that those may be given out to Vray Cloud? I am sure many architectural firms out there would want this feature. Thanks.

    • SKETCHUP NAVIGATION IN LUMION Solved !

      Hi !

I am an avid Sketchup user of long since version 5, and a recent Lumion user with our firm having recently purchased 3 commercial seats of Lumion version 7.3 last year.

I would really deeply appreciate if anyone could spare a moment to guide us a way we could program the mouse buttons for Orbit and Pan in Lumion, to simulate the way they work in Sketchup (MMB drag and Shift+MMB drag). It really bugs us off to mentally recondition to the Lumion way of navigation via the WASD keys.

We have gone crazy hunting a way to do this on the net, without success.

Many thanks in advance !! Look forward to your valuable revert !

    • RE: [Plugin] [$] S4U Divide

      Hi HD!

Great plugin, I have purchased it. Though it would have been brilliant if it could work on organic lofted surfaces as a single face (not multiple faces), so that panelization could be done. It would then be used in conjunction with edges to tubes and joint push pull plugins for generating building skins and facades, and models could be imported into Revit for construction drawings. Is it possible?

      Great plugin !! No doubt.

    • RE: Lumion or LumenRT?

Lumen 6 has just launched. I saw some promos and was impressed with the new features of 6 which include pure glass, material reflections, direct light etc. I am an architect and a user of LumenRT, and have had these features in it post their 2015 release, however am also impressed by the tremendous following Lumen claims to have in the architectural community. Would really appreciate if a detailed debate on the superior software for architects could be done here to enlighten professionals like us about both software's prowess, and drawbacks. Even software manufacturers could pitch in, for everyone's benefit. Many thanks.

    • MANAGING MANY PLUGINS: Plugin Menu dropdown show 2 Columns ?

      Hi Guys/ Ruby gurus !!

I'd really deeply appreciate help here please. 😞

I have a tad too many plugins installed (and want to keep it that way as I model extempore and require any/many of them while modeling/ texturing).

Now the Plugin dropdown list has become inordinately long and most of the time I have to be clicking on the triangular "more below"/ "more above" buttons to scroll beyond the top/ bottom of screen to get to the plugin of desire, causing much frustration. (Please do refer the attached screen snip).

Could anyone please point out to a resource/ extension/ plugin that could help me get two (rather than a single) columns of the installed plugins so I could see em at a glance and go to the one desired, rather than having to click-scroll through the triangular buttons.... (a real pain!!) 😒

Or. could there be a way I could manage the plugins by combining them with other plugin menu items inside the dropdown? I have optimized a good workspace and am happy with the toolbars (though quite cluttered, but am very productive with them). Some plugins aren't available with the toolbar option and are only available through the Plugin dropdown menu only.

      Many many thanks in advance.

      Hi Barry

Thanks a ton for the link and the guidance. I have downloaded the tool but can't figure out how to set up the two options for the middle button state. (Please pardon my dumb IQ! πŸ˜‰. Could you (or anyone) please guide on what should be the settings ...?

Help would be greatly appreciated and yes, I do intend buying a beer & cookies for the author, he truly needs a big donation to bring out a product like that.

      Someone kindly help. Thanks !!!

    • REMAP/ REPROGRAM MOUSE BEHAVIOR - SKETCHUP & REVIT !!

      Hi

I don't know if this has been posted / discussed elsewhere. I have been searching for quite some time now and could find no worthwhile solution links, hence this post. Please pardon and point me to the right resource if one exists.

My problem is this: - I work on models in both sketchup and Revit/ AutoCAD/ Max Design. Unfortunately, the middle mouse button in sketchup and the other Autodesk software is EXACT OPPOSITE. While Sketchup uses Middle Mouse Button (MMB) drag to orbit and Shift+Drag to Pan, Revit-ACAD-Max do the exact opposite, MMB drag to Pan and Shift+Drag to Orbit. After having been a long user of Sketchup over the years I have learnt that Sketchup way of assignment is more suited for productivity and ease of use, as one tends to orbit (& zoom) more, rather than pan, while navigating 3d space.

When I take my revit model to sketchup and vice versa, my brain has to re-program the usage pattern and most of the time I am panning when it is needed to orbit and a terrible frustration results.

I purchased the 3D connexion space navigator in a bid to somewhat mitigate the problem by navigating the 3d space with the left hand while clicking with the right, but since I use 99% of my design time working on keyboard shortcuts on all software (which I have coded almost common in between SU and Autodesk products), I am left with no way to control the keyboard if I am on the 3d connexion space navigator with my left hand. Hence I have chosen to not use the space navigator for power sketchup use.

I have been searching in vain for long to find an answer for this (also posted on the autodesk forums asking whether the middle mouse button could be reprogrammed to work on CAD-Revit-Max same as sketchup; the replies I received were that it is hard-coded and this behavior cannot be changed).

Does anyone here at sketchucation also suffer from the same issue while working simultaneously on Revit/Max/AutoCAD and sketchup..? Also is there a way I could remap the middle mouse button with some external software...? Do please help out. Thanks.

    • LOCATION OF PREFERENCES.DAT SU-8

      Hi

      Could someone please help me!

I had to re-install windows 7 on my system as I changed my Mainboard+Processor, opting to keep the old windows installation (Windows.old).

After reinstalling Sketchup, I can't seem to locate the preferences.dat file in windows.old directory (or am I missing something?).

Could someone please point out the location of preferences.dat file so I could import the shortcuts. Thanks a TON in advance.

      Thanks again...

    • RE: Silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWK

      Like I mentioned earlier, Silver

Don't you feel down when you have guys breathing down your neck with sermons on humility!

Frank Lloyd Wright, the great US Architect ubiquitously considered as a Master of Architecture spoke of himself (in his lifetime) as the best architect of all time; then too, as well as now, the world does recognize him as one.

An artist only needs appreciation for his work and appreciates others' good work; people demand humility from others only when its lacking in themselves (you crave for what you don't have)..

You have the talent to carry off your work without any need of self-effacement, so render on !!

      Best wishes
