Thanks for the reply. Well that’s good to know as I have put a fair amount of money into SU recently with plugins and 3 year renewal. I do see the power and speed of using it. I think it just needs some bits refining a little. I do agree with you with one program but it’s good to keep your hand in auto desk as that’s what most people use here in the UK.

What kind of detail do you need for bolts? I can't imagine you need to model threads or other find detail. You can probably make all the bolt components you need from scratch in short order. You might also find something useful in the 3D Warehouse. I prefer to make my own so I can control the amount of detail and the way they insert into my models. As for the exploded views, there are a couple of old plugins that will move the groups/components in your model away from each other. One is a French one called Exploded View and there's another one from Smustard. I'm not sure about their compatibility with the newest SketchUp versions. This is also something I prefer to do myself. I find it easier and faster to create exploded views that work using the Move tool and Select.

@dave r said: It's not uncommon for third party extension and application makers to update their products for a new version of software. It's different when all of that stuff comes from in house because it is typically all updated before the release. For future updates you might consider waiting a couple of weeks to allow those third parties to test and issue their updates. FWIW, if you haven't already done so, you should install the SCF Extension (go to Resources at the top of the forum page and click on Plugin Store Download, download the extension and install it via Install Extension in the Extension Manager.) Then use it to install extensions that you get from Sketchucation. It will help you ensure you have the most recent versions of your extensions installed and it'll keep a list (bundle) of those extensions so you can install them automatically if you move to a new computer or when you update to the next version of SketchUp. thanks for the quick reply. that's what i love about SU, so many little nice surprises and plugins that help alot.
