Ah Alan, thanks very much for the reply. That seems to be it. Very succint explanation too, many thanks.

    • RE: Question about Alpha Masks (Photoshop)

Thanks John, that's a really neat workaround.

It is odd though. I've just used exactly the same method as I did originally to mask out some vegetation, and it's worked fine.

      I don't like things I don't understand!

    • Question about Alpha Masks (Photoshop)

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I open up my render in Photoshop
I open up my alpha mask in Photoshop
I insert a layer mask onto my render
I alt click onto the layer mask and paste the alpha mask into it
I right click onto the chain and apply the alpha mask
Then, for some reason, my render seems to have reduced in opacity.

Any ideas? I have attached a screenshot.

      Cheers!

Another beauty to add to your portfolio, John. Lovely.

Do you mind me asking how you did the fence - is that a photo texture or did you model each nail?!

Well my new toy arrived today! Can't tell you how excited I am! Very impressed so far. Done a few test renders with twilight and it's performing well.

Unless anyone can violently persuade me otherwise, I'm going to buy this:

Could I ask what the stats for this model? (Apologies if I've missed it elsewhere).

      Faces/mb etc?

    • SU Workshop for autistic young adults

      Hi,

Just after a bit of advice really ....

Myself and a colleague are volunteering and going into a local school to have a couple of hours with some young adults who have moderate learning difficulties and/or autism. The plan is to have a 2 hour SketchUp workshop with them.

We're just trying to plan the session and are wondering if anyone has had experience of this sort of thing? We're going to look into the Project Spectrum initiative and lesson plan (here: https://docs.google.com/View?docid=dcdkdbkp_0c88w7ndd) but it would be great to hear any tips/advice etc.

Any thoughts or ideas greatly sppreciated.

      Thanks,

      Lee

EDIT: Forgot to say, the children are 14/15 years of age.

Got into double figures this morning with a 10 mile run in freezing conditions. Literally. My wooly hat kept freezing! Things are progressing very nicely and feel better than I ever have done when I run.
