    • RE: 911 SU 6.4.120 Mac OSX 10.4.11 Intel Where's the DXF/DWG

Hey Brad (and others) thanks for the followup. I apologize but until I get past this deadline tomorrow I won't be able to reinstall the new version. After that I can take the time. Thank you and the Google team for looking into it.

I did receive a note from the team at Google earlier today:

Thank you for your note. Please be aware that a clean installation of
Google SketchUp Pro has DWG exporters. It appears as if the
installation was corrupt, and we suggest completely uninstalling SketchUp and
performing a fresh install. For more information, please visit the following articles...

Many thanks and I will report back. Hopefully it was just either a corrupt install or I do need to do a clean install. I had installed the new version on my home computer (an old G4 MDD) with no untoward effects and with full export capabilities. I was taken off guard by the install on my work machine not being complete, especially as I was already stressing about getting the work out.

      All the best.

Am I the only one and just need to reinstall or is this a real problem for any other Mac OS users?

Thanks and have a great day.

    • 911 SU 6.4.120 Mac OSX 10.4.11 Intel Where's the DXF/DWG

I just upgraded my Intel Macbook Pro to the latest version of SU. I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11 with all current updates. Yes I am running the full version of SU.

I was looking forward to the added export options in the new version. However to my dismay, there is now no DWG or DXF export of any kind. There are all kinds of other nifty export formats but DXF and DWG are missing from both 2D export and 3D export. Nothing.

Unfortunately and as always happens, I am in the midst of a deadline and am having to down grade to the old version. Not good. This attention to detail thing seems to be missing in this release. Come on guys.

As an aside, every time I quit SU with this version it doesn't quit cleanly, I get a quit unexpectedly dialog versus the program just quitting in a normal graceful fashion.

I look forward to seeing what you all do for version 6.4.121, hopefully you will rectify this. πŸ˜’

WOW, that certainly works a treat. Thank you for all of that work to assist those of us with Macs.

Thank you very much. All the best and have a great day.

This looks like yet another great script. I unfortunately echo Davekn's experience on a PPC Mac. I will try this next week on my work Intel Mac to see if the issues are the same. As an aside the .MHP file doesn't open on my Mac. The PDF is fine however.

Many thanks and have a great day.

oh.. One more thing. Launching SU almost always yields to a message saying that license number is exceeded.
      version is 6.0 (6.0.1153)
So I quit and relaunch and it's OK.

Are you attached to a ethernet cable and have your wireless connection still up (Airport is on). Sometimes you will end up with two different IPs for your machine and SU thinks its running on two machines. Turn off Airport when connected by copper to avoid this.

    • RE: SU6 with MacOSX 10.4.11 Warehouse failure

As a followup, the same behavior occurs with 3D Warehouse on my G4 MDD Powermac with 10.4.11. Warehouse works normally using Safari3.

Many thanks and have a great day.

      I still get:

      Error Loading File HouseBuilder_extension.rb
private method `split' called for nil:NilClass

When SU starts and although one can bring up the House Builder tool pallette, it won't actually do anything when one clicks on the buttons.

Sorry for being a wet blanket

      Didier:

On a Mac the path will always be:

      /Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup 6/Plugins/Housebuilder/housebuilder_sections.txt

      if that helps.

Many thanks, I haven't been by earlier so my apologies for taking so long to post the info.

I was looking at the old housebuilder and the ruby wasn't encoded like it is now or I would have tried chasing this myself.

Many thanks and have a great day.

      Good day Didier;

I have run into a bit of a problem:

      Error Loading File HouseBuilder_extension.rb
private method `split' called for nil:NilClass

I run on Mac OSX so that may be some part of the issue. Is there something else I should have loaded?

    • RE: Housebuilder ruby script

The Housebuilder Ruby works fine with SU6. The Sketchup.rb just lives in another folder now so its still accessable to Housebuilder.

The biggest issues so far with Rubys in general have been issues of how Mac OSX treats rubies and features that are implementable in MSW that don't exist on the Mac side. The biggest problems I have seen have been with ones that are not in plain text as minor errors cannot easily be fixed without the author making the change. For the most part all my rubies from SU5 work with 6. Even older versions of them. For instance I use an old version of the K-tools.rb that I prefer as its more reliable at small scales and I like the interface better (I think its from 2005).

Overall Ruby doesn't seem to be too affected by the change.

    • SU6 with MacOSX 10.4.11 Warehouse failure

Mac OSX 10.4.11 update on a Macbook Pro 2.33ghz.

Accessing Google 3D Warehouse from within SU (menu pick or from component window icon) opens the 3D Warehouse window. Window fails to render fully and is non functional. Un-rendered window has missing icons and is nonfunctional, doesn't allow input into text box.

Warehouse functions normally when accessed from a browser (Safari 3 and others).

    • RE: A Pencil Style for ya...

      Ross:

What happens on a Mac is it will download zip file and you can't get the OS or SU to see it as a "style". Sometimes the changing the suffix to .style from .zip will work but not always.

Why it doesn't work reliably and consistently is beyond me (as well).

In addition SU will often work unreliably in regards to different styles, some will take the place of others (click on one the display changes, click on another and the name highlights but the style doesn't actually change) and then SU will often crash. This occurs on my PPC and my Intel Macs.

    • RE: A Pencil Style for ya...

Actually this problem with styles on a Mac has existed since SU6 was introduced. A Mac generally will see this as a zip file and as a result will unpack it so you see its requisite parts in a folder. I reported this on the old forum and tried to assist style creators in posting the files so they could be reliably downloaded. In addition depending on how compressed the image files were the styles would fail to work.

This is a bug in the format for styles. To the best of my knowledge, I have never seen a Mac user created style, though I could be wrong.

    • RE: Send a message to Google: Hire CraigD now!

Thanks for the heads up. Completed and hopefully it helps.

If it wasn't for Craig, I wouldn't know much of anything about Google anymore since they don't communicate very effectively anymore. I can't stand going to the GooGroups and rarely go to the Google SU site. Didn't even know there was a software update for days. Hmm, in general I guess I haven't been as interested as once I was.

All the best and have a great day.
