Just an idea but have you tried exporting the 2d elevation in Layout instead of Sketchup?

i had the same problem yesterday. Tried a lot to fix it but nothing helped. In the end i de-installed and re-installed sketchup and that did the trick
TIG - great! Exactly what I was looking for. Especially when working with large scenes my old workflow took some time. With your script, a menu-item & keyboard shortcut it's nice and easy.
Thanks a lot

Hello,
I have lots of groups in my scenes and some of them have objects in them whose lines must be hidden. Now and then I have to edit the lines.
Of course, I can: open the group -> unhide hidden geometry -> unhide all (in group) -> hide hidden geometry ....
It would be very useful if I could just select the group and press a button to it all happen.
Anyone know if there's a plugin that can unhide the contents of a selected group / component?

for those already using a wacom pen: how do you pan and zoom while you're using another command?
For instance you're zoomed in, start drawing a line and want to zoom out, zoom in elsewhere and continue drawing the line. Using a three button mouse this is easy. Can this be done using a pen?
A great plugin! Thanks TIG.
Very usefull to add more depth to facades (filling the shadow-faces with hatch lines by using Jolran's 2dBoolean and assigning a thin 'pen' to the shadow-scene in LO).

Hello Jolran,
Good to see you're still developing the plugin.
The screenshot looks good! Very nice you use the Sketchup style for the dialog, it's more easy on the eyes. I Hope you can treat us with a new test version at some point in the near future. Good luck in the meantime!

Hello Jolran,
Any new developments you're willing to share?

i wanna do a Toon-like graphics, so i have to fall back in Cell Shading.
I tried the same at some point and used the following trick:
The result will be that your clone object will give a black contour.
For simple objects this works. For complex objects it can result in much work and lesser results.

I use the archiver plugin whenever I'm about to change something big. It makes a copy of the current file and puts it in a seperate directory with a timestamp in the filename. Great for rolling back to previous versions.

Things can get quite slow sometimes, maybe too slow..
More artistic questions arise, what is needed from hatches anyway?
... This could be of importance regarding speed. Cause, the bigger patter=less geometry >> speed increase.Any tips would be welcome.
I can only speak for myself but I'm very interested in this plugin regardless of any speed issue. At the moment I draw the hatches in SU by hand. I can't imagine your plugin would be slower than doing this 'boring' process by hand.
As long as people can edit the hatch-SU-files themselves as well they can choose to use hi-res hatches or low-res and by doing so control the speed and add a personal style.
Going into the path of using textures as hatches would be a pity because people sometimes have to export LO files to dxf/dwg for use by other contractors who use Autocad etc. Hatched lines would convert into cad-lines. Textures would not.

I was looking for a solution myself yesterday. I ended up using the Zorro2 plugin by Whaat which probably isn't what you are really looking for.

You do mean put the hatch in a layer already existing in the model?
Yes. Most people will work with a template file which already contains standard layers, styles, scenes etc. I guess there is no need to over-complicate the code at this stage for adding new layers on the fly.
Hello Jolran,
First of all; thanks again a million for your effort and to those who are helping you! It's a much much welcomed addition to Sketchup! I can't wait to test it out!
I think your Photoshop dialog already has all the options we could want. Maybe you could add a target layer-option for the hatches? The visual webdailog of course would be the most user-friendly but I wouldn't mind the non-visual dialog. You could always print out the patterns + names on a sheet of paper instead.

Got the tiling going pretty nicely. (Not from file yet) It's quite slow if having complex patterns.
I wouldn't be too much concerned with the performance. The time for the calculation of hatches will be much less compared to having to draw them yourself by hand! The plugin itself always be a great time-saver and will save us from dull repetitive work.

I guess someone already has the solution: PageHide v.1.100 by Rick Wilson
Hello,
I'm testing a different workflow that uses the Outliner & visibility of groups and components in scenes instead of using layers. So far it works great. The possibility of nesting groups within groups I find is really nice.
Problem is if I add a new group I have to set the visibility of the new group in all the scenes. Anyone knows if it's possible with ruby to hide a selected group on all pages (but not on the current one)?
I'm browsing the the api but haven't found anything that works.
greetings,
Max
edit: adding some more info
wonderful!! This kind of plugin (hopefully someday with some extra hatch options) is really what I was missing in SU.
Many thanks to those involved!

As far as I know the leaders for dimension lines cannot be altered - LO or SKUP.
In LO they can be altered. Just double click on a dimension and you get some extra grips to alter the leaders.

Second, I created some clear hatches from AutoCad by hatching a box in AC and making a jpg of it....The "hatches" (read materials) in SKUP are subject to inherent styles apparently (someone correct me if wrong)and often include some screening effects.
It's a nice material you created but I think the base resolution of the texture in SU isn't the problem (I use 256x128 or 512x256 for a simple hatch like the attachment). I still would like to improve the sharpness in LO for those SU-hatches.

Hello,
I'm trying out the combination of SU and LO as an alternative to CAD. I added a picture from a test.
The picture at the top is a perspective view from SU, rendered in LO as vector. I added the dimensions in SU because there I'm sure which points I'm measuring. In LO the dimensions are sometimes off.
Question: can the leaders of the dimensions in SU somehow be hidden? I prefer just the slash.
The second picture is a section cutface with the hatches from SU, rendered in LO as raster.
Question: Is there a way to improve the quality / crispness of the hatches? I use high res images as textures and my output quality is set to high.
The third image is the section cutface without textures rendered in LO as vector.
The last image is a combination of all of the above in LO.
I'm not unhappy with the final image in LO but I would like to improve some elements. I hope someone has an answer to the questions.
Greetings,
Max
edit: added the pdf
hello TIG,
Thanks for your suggestion. This wouldn't give me the look I was aiming for. I already started to do it manually.
