I was hoping this bug had been fixed. I am using LO14 and get this unwanted geometry lines all over the place. I have tried changing the OpenGL settings and there is some improvement (less lines) but it has not gotten rid of all the lines. Any other ways users have come around to solve this problem? frustrated

RE: SMART GLASS Material
Maybe I should play with the transparency of the diffuse layer as well? FYI, I have the glass modeled with true thickness (two faces separated by the thickness of the glass).

SMART GLASS Material
Hi fellow vray-ers! I have a design where a bathroom is separated from the room via a Smart Glass Wall. I have already rendered a version where the glass is fully transparent and am in the process of re-creating the scene with the glass "turned on".
I looked into tutorials for frosted glass and have been playing with refraction glossiness and fog. However, I am having a hard time achieving the right look. When on, Smart Glass is really not see through, but it is not fully frosted either. It is a bit milky, with sharp reflections.
I was hoping that one of you experienced render artists would give me a hand with the right parameters to play with to achieve this glass look. If anyone has done this before, I would be so grateful if you could share your material.
I am attaching some pictures of a real apartment where this glass has been used. As you can see, the glass changes from transparent to opaque/transluscent with the push of a button!
Thanks in advance and Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA!

RE: SketchUp 2015 is 64bit

You can install and use differing versions of SketchUp on a computer. You can not install both the 32-bit and 64-bit version of SketchUp 2015. So if you are using a version earlier than 2015, you can install 2015 64-bit without affecting your current version.
Thank you Jim! I am going it a try this evening. So excited!

RE: SketchUp 2015 is 64bit
So exciting to see a 64-bit version of SU out! To install the 64-bit version, do I have to unistall the 32 bit version? Can I have both installed at the same time? Earlier posts on this thread suggest so but on the SU download page it says you must remove the 32-bit version before installing the 64-bit version. Any feedback on this please?

^^ Actually, I think I do not need to try render with materials overwritten. See, different groups/components render (or do not render) depending on the scene. So I do not think the problem is a material issue. I think this is a VRAY bug.
You would do best to upgrade to the latest version and service pack. There have been numerous bug fixes since this issue first came to light.
This are my specs:
OS: Windows 7
SU PRO 2014
VRAY 2.00.24942If I am correct, I am using the latest service pack.

RE: [Plugin] V-Ray Tools
Hello Thomas,
When I try to use the camera tool to set up the aspect ratio, I loose my 2 point perspective that I have set up for my scene. Am I missing something?

Perhaps are you using Vray Materials designed for 1.49 rather than 2.0?
Could this be the reason? I had not idea that there were versions of materials that go with different versions of vray. I thought vismat were universal for all versions of VRAY. How could I check if this is indeed the cause of the problem? Maybe render the unexploded version of the file with all materials overwritten and see if all objects show up? Any suggestions?

RE: Random Objects in Scene not Rendering
So I have tried to explode all the nested groups and components and voila! I can get all to render now. It is quite a hassle though since once exploded, editing becomes nearly imposible. I thought VRAY fixed this bug long time ago

RE: Random Objects in Scene not Rendering
I had found in this forum that this was a problem common to older versions of VRAY. However, I am using the most current version. These are my specs:
OS: Windows 7
SU PRO 2014
VRAY 2.00.24942I actually tried explode one of the items that was not showing up. I exploded it to the bare bones and it rendered. But it doesn't work for other cases. I will post some images later.

Random Objects in Scene not Rendering
After an agonizing experience with VRAY for SU on the Mac platform (highly unstable for large file renderings), I decided to switch to a Windows platform. This time around, the VRAY - SU interaction is MUCH more smoother. SU does not crash and I am able to finally get going with my renders.
Unfortunately, I am experiencing a completely kind of problem now. I have certain objects that while visible on the scene, do not show up in the render. It is like they are invisible. Some of this objects are groups, others are components. I work with many items, so I have deeply nested groups and components.
What is interesting is that certain objects will render correctly on one scene but not on the other. It is a bit of a russian roulette, sometimes I get most of the objects to render correctly. Has this happened to anyone in the past? I tried exploding the objects but have not had any luck thus far. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

this is with the service release? Please make sure you are working with 2.00.24261
Hi Devin, Thank your for your quick reply. I am indeed using build 2.00.24261. I did have Vray lights in components for months before the problem occurred for the first time. I exploded all components but it did not solve the issue. Only when I erase all lights and add them again (without components this time)am I able to open the light editor and change parameters. The file worked fine then, but after closing and opening the problem comes back again. Any suggestions?

RE: Crash after renaming material (v.2.0)
This happens to me all the time. I try to change a material name and VRAY and SU crash. I just don't change material names anymore. I work with SUPro and VRAY 2.0 on MAC OSX.
If anyone finds a reason or a solution for this, I would be glad to know what it is.

HELP! "Unable to edit light - no light asset was provided"
Hello fellow SU and VRAY users! I have been using SU for many years now and started using VRAY since the beginning of this year. All has been good, aside from a few typical problems I have found many of us have experienced.
I am currently working with a large file. I have been rendering scenes from this file for many months an have never had a problem.
Recently, I noticed that I am not able to edit any of my VRAY lights. When I click on the edit light icon, a window pops up saying "Unable to edit light - no light asset was provided".
I have tried many things and searched for answers on the net but have not been able to solve this problem. Even if I add new lights, I still get this message for when I try to change its parameters. I discovered that if I delete all VRAY lights in the model, I am able to add new lights and edit them without problems. I have done this many times, painfully recreating every light one by one.
However, everytime I close the file the lights go into an apocalyptic doom. If I re-open the file, I get the death sentence "Unable to edit light - no light asset was provided" again!!!
Has this happened to anyone here? Anyone has any ideas?
I am working with SUPro and Vray 2.0 on a MAC with OS Mavericks.
