Random Objects in Scene not Rendering
-
What version of Vray are you running, I know this was a bug in the Pre 2.x versions. One thing you could try is to render with override texture on to see if it is one of the textures that is causing the issues.

I agree. Update to the latest SP2 to get all the bug fixes. The Chaos team works hard at squashing all bugs and releasing regular updates. This sounds like you have a very old pre SP1 version.

I had found in this forum that this was a problem common to older versions of VRAY. However, I am using the most current version. These are my specs:
OS: Windows 7
SU PRO 2014
VRAY 2.00.24942I actually tried explode one of the items that was not showing up. I exploded it to the bare bones and it rendered. But it doesn't work for other cases. I will post some images later.

Perhaps are you using Vray Materials designed for 1.49 rather than 2.0?

So I have tried to explode all the nested groups and components and voila! I can get all to render now. It is quite a hassle though since once exploded, editing becomes nearly imposible. I thought VRAY fixed this bug long time ago

Could this be the reason? I had not idea that there were versions of materials that go with different versions of vray. I thought vismat were universal for all versions of VRAY. How could I check if this is indeed the cause of the problem? Maybe render the unexploded version of the file with all materials overwritten and see if all objects show up? Any suggestions?

Well as I mentioned in my first post, you could try the original model (components and all) as use Override materials, if everything renders fine then its more than likely a material issue. The pain then is to replace material one at a time to see which one is causing the issues.

^^ Actually, I think I do not need to try render with materials overwritten. See, different groups/components render (or do not render) depending on the scene. So I do not think the problem is a material issue. I think this is a VRAY bug.

You would do best to upgrade to the latest version and service pack. There have been numerous bug fixes since this issue first came to light.
