Creating a plaid on a chair - cloth simulator?
hi
i wonder if anyone knows of a standalone cloth simulator?
i would like to create a plaid that lays over a chair, like the one in the attached image.i have tried using artisan, but i'm finding it quite hard (but maybe not impossible) to create something similar.
therefore, does anyone now of a plugin that can simulate cloth in sketchup, or some kind of standalone simulator that imports obj files (the chair) and exports obj files?
any input is very welcome

RE: [Plugin] Sketchup Ivy
just tried to grow an ivy and render with octane.
it seems that octane somehow moves or resets the leaves scale or something....
does anyone know what's going on and if it can be fixed?
thanks

Select a group of components - select hidden
hi
i have a family (component) in revit that shows a car.
i use this family to populate a car park, i place all the families and then i select some random instances and then i can deselect "show car" via a checkbox - this way i can give the car park some randomness.
my knowledge to dynamic components is very limited, so i would like to hear if it's somehow possible to create the same in sketchup, before i use time to figure out how
thanks

Move drawing inside the frame?
is there a way to pan the drawing inside the 'frame' - or do i need to move the drawing and resize the frame everytime i need to pan the view?
thanks

Using Sketchup for the whole process?
Hi everyone
I normally sketch, create elevations, plans and sections in Revit.
Then i link the revit file into 3ds max where i create illustrations.Sometimes when i need more control over textures and need to do fast adjustments to details, i export the drawing as dwg and then model and render in sketchup.
I find sketchup very fast and intuitive, and have used it on / off for over ten years now.
I wonder if i can create a complete project in sektchup? by this i mean
- plans
- sections
- elevations
- illustrations (i now i can)
and set them up on A3 paper.
I have tried some years ago, i think it was when paper layout was introduced. But i found it very troublesome and hard to get the needed drawings, especially nice plans, as sketchup is using faces, and not solids - so i needed to use some plugins to add faces to section cuts - what a hassle it was.
I wonder if things have chanced since? what are your experiences?
Thanks

RE: DC child component
hi pcmoor
thank you very much for your fast reply.
i have opened your file and it works just fine!
i have tried to replicate the same behavior to my own model, but i can't get it to work - though it seems that i have done exactly the same.
could i ask you to test the file? it might just be a typeping error

DC child component
hi
i have just started experimenting with dc, and i have a quick question.
i have a group - "char", that contains two groups "seat", "legs".
i have added a onClick behavior that i would like to hide / show the legs (just for testing).
i thought i could do something like legs.SET("hidden", 0, 1), but that gives an error.
i can ad the onclick behavior direct at the "legs", but when they are hidden, i can't click to show them again - so i thought the solution could be to add the behavior to the parent.
is it possible to access childs from the main group?
thanks

RE: Shadow studies - wrong lenght?
Hi wo3dan
I thought the date and time was saved in the file - it was when I opened the file.
Date was 22.06, time 19:19.

RE: Shadow studies - wrong lenght?
hi juju
thanks for your reply - and sorry - signature should be updated now.
date and time was correct
"i then created a 1cm x 1cm x 100cm object in sketchup, added my location sat the correct time and date - and used UTC -1 (denmark). " - and location checked.why should i ditch revit? revit did it correct - sketchup not.
no need to demean revit - revit has it's pros and cons, and so do sketchup.jorgensen

Shadow studies - wrong lenght?
i just wanted to test the shadows in sketchup.
i placed a one meter stick on the ground measured the shadow lenght to 2.8 meters.
i then created a 1cm x 1cm x 100cm object in sketchup, added my location sat the correct time and date - and used UTC -1 (denmark).
the shawdow lenght was 5,14m in sketchup - almost the doubble lenght.
does anyone know what i'm doing wrong?
i did the same test in revit - and it was 2.82 meters.

RE: [Plugin] jsMoveTool [updated to v2014]
hi pixero
i can use it at home - so i don't think it's a user-error
mayby it's a conflict with an other plugin?
i get this message in the ruby console as soon as i press an arrow key.
