The SU model is tile rendered, so there's 2 images in this case.
The models are tile rendered to get around memory issues, otherwise
the drawing/rendering of large bitmaps fails.
The white line is the space between the two images. Note that
you don't see a gap between the images in the PDF file. The
white line/gap is precision problems of the printer.
Does the white line show up when printing from the PDF viewer?

RE: White Vertical Line through Viewport
If you export to PDF do you see this white line?
Depending on your PDF viewer you can select items in
the PDF file. In my viewer (Acrobat Reader) I can select
the SU model and it will highlight the SU model bitmap.
If you select your model, does it highlight a bitmap right where
the white line is showing up? -
RE: Layout and Section Planes, again.....
Please post a LayOut file for us to look at or send it to me in a PM.

RE: Cannot open Layout
There has been a very long-standing bug with LO where it crashes on startup.
It happens when the 8-hour demo period is over and SketchUp converts to Free.
Then when you try to start LO it isn't licensed and tries to force-exit the app,
but it crashes instead. We have mostly seen this in non-English builds.
We think we have this fixed in the next release of 8.0 (M1). But LO won't
start anyways since the license is expired. -
RE: Solid Tools - subtract
@doogen said:
Is there a script that allows one using the subtract tool without deleting the first part?
As it is now, I have to make a copy of the 1st solid, place it in a nearby spot, do the subtraction and then place the copy back to the original place...I think you need to use trim instead of subtract.

RE: Painful PDF export

Hi Lee,
Have you tried to export from LayOut then? It has some different exporting algorithm as far as I know and you could be more lucky with that. Vector and hybrid rendering modes export edges as vectors.Pure vector from LO would be the same as PDF from SU. Hybrid from LO may be faster since
it doesn't have to create vector faces. -
RE: Dimensioning
You should not dimension on a shared layer.
Make sure your current layer isn't shared.
I can tell there's multiple layers since the dim
is going behind the model. -
RE: Vector Rendering Problem
In order to fix problems such as these a bug report needs to be logged with Google along with a way to reproduce the problem. Screen captures don't help much fixing bugs.

RE: Mulitcore Multicore Multicore
LO was MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE (it rendered in the background while you worked)
on Windows in version 2.0. It had to be removed for technical reasons in v2.1. Do you know how many people noticed that it was
MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE MULTICORE?

Sweet, yes the auto render under Layout Preferences/ General/.. worked wonders
Thanks J HauswirthThe checkbox on the SketchUp dialog called Auto also changes this setting.

Perhaps utilizing multicore processing would be possible for Layout rendering?
You guys want to know a funny thing? LayOut 2.0 on Windows
renders in another thread while you continue to work on the
document. What's so funny you ask? Well in LayOut 2.1 we
had to pull out the background rendering and guess
how many people noticed? ZERO! -
RE: LayOut 3: Cannot save file
If you can send me your template(s) that you can't save I can take a look.
In 3.0 we have put in a lot of work to detect corrupt files and not
overwrite your good files. Trouble is, we have had a hard time
figuring out what is causing the files to get messed up, so
any example files/actions you can supply will help us out.BTW, we have figured out the main file corruption problem in
2.1, but there's at least one remaining one we are still
trying to track down. -
RE: "update references" locked?
Just rename the layout file to a .zip and see if it will attach.

RE: Layout problems
How long have you given it to finish? Vector rendering can take a very long time.
If you can get us the file we can see what's going on. -
RE: Layout Presentation Crashing
If you send in the file to support with instructions on how to reproduce the crash, they can hopefully fix the problem in a future release.

RE: Full Screen Sketchup
LayOut is a presentation program that comes with SketchUp Pro. It can go fullscreen and you can double-click to go into a viewing mode on a SU model and you can play your Scene animation also.

RE: Why so often exporting to PDF makes my images disappear?
I opened your pngs with windows paint and resaved them as
pngs and jpgs and they still don't export. I also inserted
some random jpgs and pngs on the same page and they work
just fine. I don't know what's different about your pngs that
you have. They display fine in paint/explorer/other viewers...
