      ok. something strange. but I'm seeing Skp thumbnails here in my Windows 7 64bit Home.
      I've not done anything special I know of...?

      You'll see thumbnails when doing file->open, file->Save as... from within SU because SU is using the 32-bit common dialogs. If you're looking in explorer, its 64-bit.

      Open the styles dialog in SU and see if your style is modified.
      If the style is modified in SU, it probably won't render that same in LO.
      I think 98% of the problems in LO, where "My LO view doesn't match SU's view",
      are caused by a "modified active style".

      Is there anyway youcan test on a newer version of OSX, not Tiger.
      Tiger has caused us endless problems like this. We currently have
      a Tiger export PDF problem.

      This is a bug that you can't do anything about, other than change the
      camera slightly like you have been doing. What version are you using?
      You can submit a bug and make sure to send in the example that shows
      the problem.

      hi jhauswirth

      I created the scenes inside SU.

      Select the model in LayOut and look in the SU dialog's Styles'
      tab. Do you see a style called "Modified Active Style" or a
      style with (Modified) in front of it?
      (probably the one that's selected)

      Is the Scene created in SketchUp, or do you mean you just inserted a SU model in LO?
      Did you select an SU Scene inside LO from the SU Dialog?

    • RE: Layout very good but slow. looking for advice..

      I'm curious. Currently when you're doing your documentation/presentations
      outside of LO in a different presentation app, is it lots faster?
      For example, lets say you have an SU image in the other app and you
      change the SU model. Is it faster for you to-

      • Open the model in SU
      • File->export PNG
      • Find where to put the png file and give it a name
      • Wait for it to render
      • Go back to your other app
      • Delete the image
      • Insert the image

      This is what's happening every time you to change the style and view.

      Insert it anywhere or somewhere specific?

      Where you put it doesn't matter. Just open the file and you'll see
      a bunch of other entries that look like the block of text you need to
      insert. If you're using an editor that doesn't format the text so that
      you see other blocks of settings like the one you need to insert, try
      write.exe. Do Windows Key->r to open the run dialog and type in
      write.exe and then open preferences.xml in there.
      For example it would look like this after you insert-

      <t:dicItem key="read_old_file_version_warning">
      <t:variant type="1">0</t:variant>
      </t:dicItem>

      <t:dicItem key="render_ST">
      <t:variant type="1">1</t:variant>
      </t:dicItem>

      <t:dicItem key="su_render_hybrid_warning">
      <t:variant type="1">0</t:variant>
      </t:dicItem>

    • RE: Layout 7.1 Instability

      I highly suspect the crashes are from multi-threaded rendering that's happening.
      In-
      C:\Documents and Settings[YOUR_USER_NAME]\Application Data\Google\Google SketchUp 7\LayOut\preferences.xml
      you can add-

      <t:dicItem key="render_ST">
      <t:variant type="1">1</t:variant>
      </t:dicItem>

      You can open this file up in a text editor.
      Make sure the text editor can display the file
      formatted so you can see the pattern of entries
      that are in the file. Just insert this block of
      text into the rest of the settings.

      What do you have your Edit Quality set to in-
      File->Document Setup...->Paper
      If you set it to Low you will have a smaller file size and
      it should speed up editing the document.

      LO does use a lot of memory because of all the bitmaps
      that can be loaded when viewing pages with large/many
      SU models inserted.

      Look at this topic-
      http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17415

      Can you describe what is slow? Is it the rendering when you
      adjust the SU model in LO? Is it just panning around the page?
      Exporting to PDF? Printing? Do you have auto-render on or off?
      What is your model edit and output resolution set to?

      Hi All,

      Not sure if this issue has been high lighted here before but have any of you experienced lines and infill colors disappearing when using vector render option in LO. It has happened to me several times to the point where it is getting frustrating 😒 😒

      Stan

      The HLR (hidden line removal) code is buggy. My only suggestion is to try hybrid. It may give you what you need, unless you need only vector output. I have seen the most problems from models that aren't real-life models- i.e. if you couldn't build the model because you can't have 2 boards that occupy the same space.

    • RE: Lost my dimension leader lines in SU to LO conversion

      I don't have a guess why the lines are missing. Can you post an example
      LO doc showing this issue?

      As for text matching between LO and SU. SU has a bug in the
      Windows version where the text font is scaled by 72/96.
      This bug has been there a long time so it was left there
      to not break all the existing SU models. So getting text to
      match SU is not possible on Windows. I don't want to hack
      LO to match SU because then a 12pt font won't match a native LO
      12pt font. I suggest playing with the font properties in SU
      to see what works best for you. For instance if you want a constant
      point size, pick "Size:" in points. But if you print at many different
      scales, choose "Size:" in height, so that when you zoom your model
      the fonts will zoom with the model.

      I'm also wondering about this. When printing to .pdf is there a way to print as vector file rather thank dots?

      You have to select Hybrid or Vector rendering on each SU model. Anything in LO that's
      Vector based is also exported as vector to pdf.

    • RE: Section Cuts in Layout

      One other thing to watch out for. If the selected
      Scene has (Modified) in front of it, the resulting
      image will not match SU because some render setting
      in LO changed causing it to be different than the
      Scene in SU.
