RE: Kerkythea render
I am not just a FAN am a complete ADDICT!
comparing with podium...ive used the trial versions a cpl of times...
i can say is that the two render packages are for different categories of renderers...
Podium would be PERFECT for those seeking that QUICK and NO HASSLE render... even those using a renderer for the first time can use it without any difficulties at all... the huge plus point is the SLIDER ADJUSTMENTS for the various material properties such as reflections, lighting etc..(pretty innovative i must say!)
KT is for all those perfectionists! those would like more control over their material creations, light adjustments etc.... it requires a lil more effort to understand the various functions of KT such as the render presets, material creations etc... but with the excellent SketchUp integration via SU2KT plugin, setting up a scene is as simple as 1,2,3!!
I can also say that KT is one of the fastest rendering systems (both free and commercial) out there which uses Biased and Unbiased rendering methods... so u are not bound to just one option but to many more!
The KT website is quite friendly with the developer Giannis giving constant attention to new feature requests from the users...
New KT is coming out soon with many many many new and interesting features!Sorry for the rambling!!

RE: Hi all from south east asia
hey andri...
good to see u here too!!
elmer... hes from indonesia! -
RE: New to Vray and rendering
i will start!
first of all make sure u have ur faces correct! if u apply textures to the back faces then it wouldnt render!
make sure u do have textures applied so that the scale and UVW coordinates can be recognised by the render engine!
after u do the texturing u should make Vray linked material.. and then adjust the various properties there in the material window...
u can goto the asgvis website and download some vismats... u can apply these vismats by right clickin the material in the material browser and importin it! (if u make some cool materials please share! )
if ur renderin with the sun and sky make sure u have ur physical camera on.. it works pretty much like the real camera.. adjust the shutter speed and all !
the vray for SU manual is actually quite helpful.. ive printed it out and go thru the settings quite often just to refresh my memory!
the VfSu forum at the asgvis website is quite helpful really.. fast responses.. give them a try!
happy rendering!

RE: Some .vismat files here...
well i started playin with it.. as lewis said.. those settings are really a pain!!! it almost took me some time to figure the settings and get the render running (the PDF guide is as what lewis said.. not complete..)
but i must say that it has speed... it took 10mins to render the iphone scene (thanx Cheffey for the wonderful model).. (please note that the computer i have isnt exactly what u would call a render machine! ) pretty fast for my standards!!.

RE: Some .vismat files here...
Vray is a industry standard rite now.. the quality is just simply amazing.. BUT (theres always a but.. right?? ) the render is only good as the materials setting and the right selection of those many options u find in the Vray toolbox!!! for an architect lookin for the best output in the shortest time (IMHO) this is not for u! maybe those guys who do renders professionally could find it worth the time (and money)...
all that said.. i donot say its that hard either.. a few trials and a through knowledge of those render settings should take u in the right direction....i just started out with Vray.. still tryin to get to grips with it! LOL
now bout KT.. well what can i say.. its gotta be the best free S/W out there for PR renders... U club it with SU2KT plugin and the results are just amazing.. even though its still bein developed single handedly by Ioannis.. i think this thing has the potential to outrun many of those commercial renderers out there... and the forum is just amazing... again i must say the render is only as good as ur materials and lighting.. so theres no real one touch renders.. (though i have seen some pretty cool KT renders straight out from SU without much tweakin in the render SW itself!!!!
and if u ask me whats worth the money?? u do the math urself!!

RE: Some .vismat files here...
ok i think i must have confused u folks... (dang even i get confused when i say things so technical! LOL)
no dylan i am sayin that these .vismat files ARE THE ONLY files which work with vray for SU....
sites like http://www.vray-materials.de/ provides hundreds of vray materials which u can USE WITH MAX.. those files have an extension of .mat
i was under the impression that i could download those files from that site and voila.. instant PR! but no.. things got scarier! LOL.. i gotta create my own .vismats! hee hee! -
Some .vismat files here...
many of u might know that vray for SU does not support the .mat files (which i believe is the vray material file for 3dsMax) they seem to be having a converter in the current release of vray for 3DS Max.. but its a shame when u dont have the vray for max at hand..
anyways.. the folks at ASGvis were cool enough to post some nice vismat files in their repository.. thought i might share it here...
http://www.asgvis.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=46&func=select&id=1oh and they plan to release a standalone Vray renderer!! how cool is that???

RE: Podium
Studio setups are useful when u have to render objects so that it looks like those pictures u find in the magazines!
u can find a Studio setup http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3017&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
its meant for Kerkythea... but i am sure podium can also benefit from it. -
RE: Podium
its floating...
but other than that.. its pretty coool!
did u use a studio setup? -
RE: Zoom
My bad! my bad!!
i meant upper right quadrant!!! sorrry folks! will try not to post at 2 am in the morning!! -
RE: Zoom
when in plan view ur axis divides the entire spaace into 4 QUADRANTS.. so the left upper quadrant is the NE quadrant... considering the NS-EW direction!
one of the first basic things u learn in engineering drawing! -
RE: The SCF Guides to Post Processing [TUTORIAL]
