RE: KAPOW! ...and ....PHOOMPH!
biebel... i really enjoy ur posts here... u use a lot of rendering apps through SU and post them all here and i learn a lot through them... i enjoy ur comments on the work flows posted on each rendering apps.. i am sure u post the renders in their respective forums too... but i just dont wanna join all the forums ...( 3 or 4 is pretty hard itself...)
anyways.. if u dont post here where will u be posting all the different collaborative works??? -
RE: How hard is Kerkythea to learn?
ever heard of one touch render??
with SU2KT3.0 that pretty much is true with Kerkythea!
u could also join the forum at http://www.kerkythea.net and download the tutorials and stuff! -
RE: Clip mapping and bump mapping and...
u can find some chain link material for kerky here
-
RE: Transparency shadow threshold
yea even i dont get it.. how do we actually do this threshold thingy? should we make the object into a group???
-
RE: Can kerkythea render transparent images?
KT doesnt support transprent gif/PNG as of now.. u can however use clip maps (a blck n white version of ur image map).
the work flow is this...
1)u use ur image map (a normal JPEG image) into ur diffuse slot.
2)using an image manipulation program like Gimp or PS make a Black n white (NOT A GREY VERSION that u would normally use for the bump map) apply into the Clip map option (under the modifiers tab) in ur material editor
3)make sure that u use the same scaling for both the images!
4) render away!or maybe take a look at this : http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2456&highlight=fence
and this : http://www.kerkythea.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3401hope this helps!

RE: I was wondering...
u can always merge ur models together in KT..
for example..
u have some new compnents that u made and want to export it into ur exixting (OLD) xml file (say 1)... all u gotta do is select the new components and then when u try to export the model a new tab called "Export Selection Only" will appear.. turn it on to "yes" which it automatically would do.. and export as a new XML file (say 2).in KT.. open ur old XML (1.xml) and the go to File>Merge (or CTRL+M)....
a new dialog box will appear where u can follow the settings i have attached....press ok and u can browse to ur new XML (2.xml) and open it!
P.S: in a similar fashion u can even add new lights, camers etc...only problem with this that i find is that the materials in the new components are repeated so u will have to replace it with the exisiting material in the old file (if u have changed any properties that is..)
this problem will be solved when the next SU2KT plugin is released where all the material properties can be defined in SU itself.. (such as reflevtivity, bump, transparency etc. etc... )

RE: Filleting and Chamfer edges
perhaps this might interest u???
chk the sixth item from the top!
http://www.ohyeahcad.com/download/index.php -
RE: Soften edges
soften edges hides all the edges in ur model and theresby merging the different faces togetther.. u can turn on hidden lines option and see the hdden lines in dotted lines.. if u want to separate the faces u gotta draw lines along the dotted (hidden lines)..
-
RE: Organize your models
i would like to add that if ur importing ACAD dwgs.. please make sure u have all the lines in one single layer.. (for this i make a separate cad file called "SU Export" or similar and do it so as not to harm the original file) usually all the layers from ACAD makes navigation with the SU layers sooo damn difficult!!!
thanx! -
RE: Wierd Material problem
hi perk... which version of su2kt plugin are u using??
i've heard that the older ver. had this rotating texture problem... the newer version (3.0) has fixed this...

RE: Kerkythea render
@unknownuser said:
I can also say that KT is one of the fastest rendering systems (both free and commercial out there which....
i am sure u got confused here.... what i meant to say was... among all categories of FREE and COMMERCIAL renderers out there, KT (which is 100% free) is one of the fastest!
u can visit http://www.kerkythea.net to learn more....
and u cant just completely rule out podium.. like i said it is a wonderful and innovative product (loosely based on KT) and is great for those quickies... but for me i like to have that extra punch and hence i use Kt.best of luck!
