RE: [Plugin] TIG-Smart_offset
Thank you, Santa TIG. Milk and cookies will await you Xmas morning.
Any chance of having:
1- a "Weld Offset" option button in the dialog
or
2- have the offset automatically welded if its source-edges were made from the circle, arch, polygon tools or previously "welded" edges?Regards, John

RE: [Plugin] Descaler v1.1 20121218
Thanks, TIG. Great idea. Very practical.
I did notice that when descaled the group is not restored to its original position in the model. Is there a way to prevent that?
Happy holidays!
Cheers, John

I saw the You-Tube demo too. Very interesting!

Chrome > I can no longer print
All of a sudden, I can not print from Chrome. I get the Print dialog [via the menu or Ctrl-P] with the Preview displayed, but all I get is a blank page as output. If I click the "Print using system dialog ..." option, that works. I can print to PDF, however.
All my other applications seem to print without a problem.
I am not sure if this problem existed before doing an automatic Windows Update (I'm running Windows 7 Professional) earlier today or not.
Any ideas on how to remedy this?

RE: [Plugin] Work Plane
Tig, the only other thing I didn't mention previously was after choosing Scale from the Context Menu, I grabbed a corner scale handle, dragged inward, and then typed a value in the VCB of .5

RE: [Plugin] Work Plane
I notice if I use the context menu on a selected working plane and choose Working Plane > Scale and then do a rescale, that the working plane becomes ungrouped.
Is this intended?

RE: [Plugin] TIG-export_SKP_by_layer.rb
Stephen, does this answer your question?
Example 1. The location where the ruby script needs to be copied to.
Example 2. How to execute the ruby script (ignore the short-keys for the "Window" menu
as these are my custom shortcut key assignments).

RE: [Plugin] Snapshot β (1.0.1) β updated 09.10.2012
Thank You A:
The dialog is now larger and the top two-thirds of the buttons are visible; good enough to see and use.

RE: [Plugin] Snapshot β (1.0.1) β updated 09.10.2012
Hi A:
When the settings dialog opens, it does not extend downward enough to reveal the Cancel and OK buttons. I could not figure out why my setting changes were being ignored until I manually dragged the bounds of the dialog.
Also, when unchecking the Ask Every Time option, it would not take until closing and reopening SketchUp.

RE: [wishlist] SketchUp Viewer
What if the .skp could have info stored in it (in its header?) such that when double-clicked to open it and SU or the SU viewer is not installed the user is given a menu to download and auto-install the Viewer?
Update to message: I was thinking it would work in a way similar to when Flash was initiated. If a file was opened in your browser and the plugin was not installed, then a dialog would appear and the plugin could automatically be downloaded and installed.

RE: PASSWORD FOR FUNCTIONS OR LAYERS
There is an alternative beside SketchUp files.
So if SU doesn't implement this request, then you might look into http://WWW.Spread3D.com.
It can do all of this plus add branding info. -
RE: [wishlist] SketchUp Viewer
An icon that plays the slide-animation. The user who is unfamiliar with SU should NOT have to be instructed on where to find this function in a menu.

RE: Spread3D - Create interactive 3D Presentations
For those attending the BaseCamp 2012 in Boulder, I have a license for Spread3DPro and it is my intention to bring a laptop with it installed for anyone interested trying it out.

RE: Artisan 2 Wishlist
For the tool that flattens a selection to a plane, have the ability to input a Z-value or click on a surface once, and use the Z-value of that point to serve as the height of the plane.

RE: [Plugin] TIG-export_SKP_by_layer.rb
I think it will be useful when a model will need to be used by another application .... provided "meaningful" layer naming has been used.

RE: Any plugin to evenly space objects?
I think it would be useful, but tricky to do in 3D.
For instance, equal spacing between objects/groups/components that have a depth, height, and width. Do you use the model axes or the axes of the group/component to determine the spacing in between them (assuming the measurements are taken orthogonally to the axes)?

RE: Spread3D - Create interactive 3D Presentations
I have been testing it on some models I have created for equipment used in water treatment plants (with piping, pumps, concrete channels, even Google Earth imagery) and experimented a bit with embedding the viewer into a web page via iFrames. I am just a neophyte in web page creation and do not use any sophisticated software (Xara) for making web pages but the results worked (I only have had issues an IE-8 bug when displaying multiple frames on one page). I have been very pleased overall and compared to other products which import models into PDF formats. I find the ease of use and rendering far better.
Some of the distinctive pluses:
1- Lighting settings (reflectivity, sun position, and ambient lighting ) yield attractive results; better than the SU viewer. It is very intuitive and fast to set up.
2- Password protection and Copyright notification. This is something I have wanted to do for a few years when allowing models to be viewed. Although I suppose it is not totally hack-proof, it is a real asset for marketing product or giving designs to clients for review. You don't have to let the SketchUp model out of your hands.
3- I believe 3D sound could have a lot of potential for giving non-text narrative or adding "ambiance" to a model scene.
4- Pre-canned animations is a nice feature and, unlike the SU Viewer, it doesn't require explaining to the user where to find the animation function in a menu NOR are you RESTRICTED to just one animation sequence of the entire model.
5- The camera transitions between scenes seem to be much smoother than the viewer.
6- Company branding via importing logos (with positioning options) and assigning hyperlinks to them is more icing on the cake.
7- Templates, although only two are available now, has a lot of potential for building a model presentation more targeted for specific clients. I'd hope to see more templates in the near future. May be there would be a way to build your own template/UI.
8- Simple control of the width of edges or turning off edge display completely without have to change settings in the SketchUp model.
9- Prompt and attentive customer support.
Regards, John
