RE: World of Houses design challenge by i.materialise
Hi,
Could you please expand on your tips and tricks.
EG: Should we..with our models do the following;
a) explode all groups,
b) remove section planes & delete hidden lines,
c) unhide all and delete unwanted,
d) remove all trees, people and models and import only those in the 3D warehouse ' iMaterials link'??Purhaps you could add or remove as necessary.
Thanks -
RE: How to pull 3d contours to a cut and fill site platform
Hi Theo,
What I usually do is highlight the lines close to the buildings after Ive made the cuts and then use the move tool to drag up or down. Once thats done you can use the smooth tool to adjust the middel up and down as required, or select an area (selecting perimter lines only) that you want to smooth and use "from contours" tool again. Keep the origonal contour on a hidden layer so you can switch on again to give you extg contours.
There are heaps of tuts on you tube which relate to this.Cheers Jeff (also a kiwi)

Project COOPER
Project COOPER by AutoDesk.
I downloaded this application today and gave it a whirl. Its a Free 2D draughting application very similar to Layout.
It has some good basic drawing and presentation features that youd expect and CAN export to DWG as well as .pdf, jpeg or .png. It has a library of components, and can add coloured graphics including import options.
Allows you to draw on A4 or A3 set up and print, or export to selected scales.
A good application for non CAD users but doubt Id buy it. Note: in the EULA that the software will automatically deactivate itself in April 2010.
Check it out here http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?siteID=123112&id=14039474 -

RE: Lawson Cypress TG&V Door
http://kauritatahi.blogspot.com/
Lawson Cypress
used structurally as rafters, beams, and posts within the roof of a New Zealand "kiwi" made home.
Inspirational !!In case you didnt know it has a very powerful smell to which some like and some cant handle it, if its not a well ventilated home, one may at first struggle with it, unless coated with a urethane or similar moisture cured paint or laqueer.

RE: Silvershadow's Eye Candy 3 - H.M.C.S SNOWBERRY
Why cant I do that?

RE: 4mm ball - can it be made
Thankyou Gentleman.
1st I used the follow me tool which is why I had the problem.
2nd I draw a 4mm cube then a large sphere and scaled it down so that it fitted within the cube. I guess this is the only way to do it.
PS I didnt have a problem viewing it close up. It may have something to do with the number off polylines in the cirle when using the followme tool??
done now.. cheers

4mm ball - can it be made
I was trying to make a 4mm ball (sphere) with a 2mm radius. And SU 6 & 7 wont do it?? Strange...I tried a larger radius eg 50mm no problem. So I changed the presion in the model info tab / units to 0.000000mm thinking this might do it..nope.
Anyone know why or if they can suggest a fix, or even better attach a 4mm ball for me thanks a lot...and have a better day than Im having..
come on red face me!!

RE: [REQUEST] STAINLESS STEEL
Hi there,
I just posted some of the textures I made here http://sketchuplinks.blogspot.com/2009/06/line-textures.html
They could be suitable for stainless, if you like them it would be good to see how you use them..
cheers Jeff.
PS these textures are already somewhere on this site (I think) -
RE: What's your beginners tip?
If you are always having trouble opening your models because you work with different versions eg SU6 & SU7 you can drag and drop your model over the SU shortcut you created on your desktop. This opens SU straight away.
If anyone knows a way to right click and open with the correct SU version in your pull down menu that would be handy too. after all how do you tell if your model has been created in SU 6/7 without exploring properties. They have the same symbol "whatsamecallit"

[Request] ATHENA Vanity_Revo 1m Wall hung
How to best make a vanity top, so Sang can wash his hands!
I wondered if anyone can shead some light on how to best make a vanity top. Ive tried without great success on this one. This task should be straight forward for you experts but for me this is a tricky one.
Within the model I have included the dwg drawings from the manufacturer which Ive placed in their respective locations.
The vanity top is a shallow diping basin all the way across to the middle then rising again to the opposite side, with a 44mm waste in the middle, and one whole for the fawcet. It is 1m long x 375 wide with bowl out to 515mm from centre. The o/a height is 595mm which includes the top. The top is 47mm high with the back increasing to 65mm. The sections included make it reasonably clear
Looking for some tips thanks.
Cheers Jeff

[REQUEST] Plugin - Section moving tool
keeping you busy! Jim and idea for you.
PLUGIN - Moving cross section tool.
PLUGIN - SECTION MOVE TOOL
An idea - for you mad Plugin freaks! maybe you can give this some heads up?I'm continually frustrated with not being able to move the cross sections once place in SU, ( other than using the move tool - this is a PAIN!). You have to pan from your view, adjust the section plane, then pan back again, most of the time - for me anyway - going from the parallel view (where I view and generate my sections from) to perspective view , then back again.
It would be great if better control over the section plane was possible. I wonder whether a plugin using the arrow keys in the Parallel view would allow you to adjust the location of the cross section position? eg left pan / right pan & forward and back pan? There may need to some kind of control on the speed of the pan or whether it pans in jumps (eg 1m or 2m). What do you reckon, Is it possible
Cheers Jeff.

RE: Digital painting tests
Love them especially the Impressionist and the Gouche. What can you sell them for?
