Spaces is pretty powerful. There is a similar type of function in Ubuntu as well, but you can have different windows from different apps open and fly between open windows and apps- much more powerful than the dock system in windows (xp). You could for example, if you were managing websites, have an open space for each site, photoshop open in one, illustrator in another- keep everything neat and tidy. Shortcuts can also be added in each window, allowing files to be moved around very fast. Also ther are spring loaded windows- something I really miss in XP- no need for copy and paste (although that is there too).

Now guys are we talking about the stamp tool or the drape tool? True that for the drape tool, simple 2d linework is the ideal. For the stamp tool however, 3d shapes should also work - though with some limitations: they shouldn't have vertical edges (otherwise the TIN gets screwed up). Also there seems to be a kind of limitation in the complexity of the shape you want to stamp in and in your model that is quite a complex shape. If you really want to stamp it on that surface, make just an outline and a single face of that shape and try that. After that you can just place your existing model on top of the stamped, flat surface.

Hi folks. You can also use the Text Tool. The default text is: X,Y,Z coordinates for end points; Length for lines; Area for faces; Name for components and groups (if named, otherwise "Group" will show as the default name). Just ideas.

It's always a kind of try and redo thing when I'm working with it (not too much). The lines are just simple edges of a tin which you should (not just can) smotth afterwards. Select the group (it comes out groupped) and go to the soften dialogue , check bot boxes and try sliding it slowly. There are often some "obnoxious" lines that don't want to smooth - you can do this with the Ctrl+Eraser tool while editing the group.
