how do I install the other icons ?

I have the same kind of problem, on two levels:
I have downloaded a component from the 3D Warehouse (a heating radiator) on which the edges are not visible, while I want them to be, as the image without edges is blurry
plus on components and groups I made myself, some edges are visible, some are not or seem smoothened or softened
please help

in the sketchup plugins and extensions managers there is a button that says "manage sets".
I can't find instructions on how to use this feature.

Hi Thomthom,
I am trying to design thermoformable objects which can be stacked, destacked, nested and denested easily.
Stacking and nesting is no problem for two same objects, but destacking and denesting can become problematic if the surfaces are too close to each other.
To check this, I simulate the nesting of 2 objects in X-ray mode. I can then see the distance between the surfaces.

For days now I have been inspecting and testing every "drop" group/components plugin I could find, but to no avail.
Invariably all "drop" group/components plugins either drop part of the object through the surface or change it's orientation.
I was getting very frustrated until this afternoon, when I found your Raytracer plugin.
Using the "Drop Components by Geometry" I get a number of rays going straight down to the surface.
With the camera on Parallel Projection and in X-ray mode, and by clicking on front, back and side views, I can now try and find the shortest ray, as that is where both objects will first touch.
Then I can move the object down along that ray.
Works like a whistle.
But with complex objects there are so many rays it is not easy to find the shortest one.
When I click on a ray, the entity info only mentions "guide", but not the length of the ray.
Is there a way you could highlight the shortest ray, so I can quicky delete all others?
Would save me heaps of time.

I happen to be the "Frenchman" who challenged Todd some time ago which apparently led to progressbar.rb

except that I am Belgian, from the Flemish part (I am not a fanatic, rest assured ! ) but my last sentence will explain the difference for all to understand !

Todd spent some sleepless nights, solved the issue and allowed me to try it out under a gentleman's agreement of confidentiality, which, of course, I respected

still only closeopens v1.1 is available to the general public, which is a pity

lately I have gotten extremely annoyed by the time it takes for sketchup to backup a file

Microsoft Windows's task manager doesn't help either:
invariably it shows that sketchup "does not respond", same goes for Layout:
impossible to know if something is happening, how long it will take,
worse: impossible to intervene without losing part of your data

so Todd, will you please consider taking progressbar.rb to the next level?

or does any of you wizards feel challenged to make one for the backups of Sketchup and Layout ?

but if you save your project under the same name, I imagine the .skb file is also updated
this is what I did, as I had no reason to suspect that anything was wrong:
who would think that exploding an image of a group or component in a section slice will also explode the original group and component ?

I already had it installed,
but it has improved a lot, so I upgraded
a timer would be ideal for automatic archiving

I probably wouldn't have used it, as I was confident nothing wass amiss

to my opinion this is a huge bug in Sketchup

finalising my project after 100ds of hours of work,
I wanted to include some section cuts
sections worked fine, create group from slice also
moving this group to where I could work on it: fine again
when I wanted to slightly adapt the sliced group (add some lines to form new surfaces, paint some surfaces a different color, etc...)
I noticed there are groups within the sliced group which made it impossible to do what I wanted
so I proceeded to explode the groups within the sliced group one after the other
got what I wanted (at least I thought so), so I saved my project this morning under it's original name, erasing the previous version
upon reopening it, I notice that all original groups and components are exploded, not only within, as I wanted, but also outside the sliced group
so now everything sticks together, and I have no backup
this is dramatic: it will take me hours to repair
please help
