RE: Strange Pumpkin-Things
Thanks Jo-Ke
"...how did you extract the fineline wire layer?..."
The pumpkin is a smoothed group. I have set "Show Hidden Geometry". That´s basically all.
In the example above, I've used a high 2d-export resolution, which enhances that "fineline" effect.
I hope that's what you asked me?I add in a little mini tutorial how to model such a thing ...

RE: Exporting as a 2D graphic
Hi
sometimes it helps to open the exported PDF file in Acrobat Pro and export from there into a new PDF
which then is "better compatible" to your used Creative Suite for some reason... -
RE: Strange Pumpkin-Things
thank you Oli
meanwhile I own Twilight Pro (exactly for this reason) but still can not work well with it... -
Strange Pumpkin-Things
Autumn is coming
slowly but surely - these pumpkin-things reappear.
(as I was too late for Halloween last year, I post these two images now, which is
probably too early)The rendering was done with Shaderlight. As Shaderlight is not able to add different
properties to one material at the same time, I rendered 3 different material versions,
which I combined in Photoshop later...

RE: Challenge - Model this unique chair
Taff, that´s a great task!
I also thought at first, that´s a rendering :- ))Cotty - your presentation is overwhelming!

RE: Correctly matching of photos
glad to help - maybe you let us see, what you've done later

RE: Correctly matching of photos
I have found the solution to the problem.
Elisei wrote "...There is something wrong with the picture..." - he is right!
Yes, the picture itself is the problem! It is a two point perspective, so no "real" 3-point-perspective. The foto had been trimmed artificially into a 2-point-perspective. SkUp-PhotoMatch can´t handle this. PhotoMatch requires 3 vanishing points.
I changed the image back into a 3-point-perspective within Photoshop and tried it again - it worked fine! The degree of distortion is not essential - essential is, that there are 3 vanishing points.
I attach a screenshot and the dummy SketchUp file...PS:
If you're interested, here is a "photomatching" ;- )) link to the website of GMP Architects:

RE: Correctly matching of photos
Hi Nicholas
I screenshoted your picture and gave it a try by myself.
Maybe I'm wrong, but my result is, that your room is not perpendicular
but a parallelogram. As far as I see it, you did everything correctly but
the photo match axes can´t work properly where you used them ...

RE: Slide Loft NYC [Photomatch]
Hi
your is approach is clever and your original image is well suited for such a task. What exactly is the intention of your work?
I compare the two pictures and I see almost no difference, which at least is an evidence
that you have worked very precisely within PhotomatchAnyway, well done!

RE: Face-me Components Rotating Unexpectedly
hmm, strange - I can not reproduce or even simulte this behavior...
Box is right, please post this shown tree model here (skp8) -
RE: Sketchup dreaming?
My daydreams are similar - they are characterized by my good frontface side.
However, I am afraid of the nights - since my backface then appears...What should I do ?!?!?

RE: A crumpled Paper Bag
thanks for your comments!
@ Bob: in this supermarket there are no plastic bags available at all
@ pbacot: I'm not doing a Gehry design - out of respect
"How is the logo section added to the rest? Point by point?"
I have selected this small area manually and then converted the selection into a group.
With rectangular(?) selection that worked very quickly.
Texturing just this group made it possible that the logo will not appear on the entire bag.
Since this logo area is a group, the group could remain in it´s original position. I have
moved forward this group, only in order to illustrate how I did it..."And why is that even necessary?
Your question is justified! Somehow it did not succeed to project the texture onto the
triangulated faces - don´t know why. So I tried to use the quad-face method, which worked immediately.
Tig's plugin had only to convert a small piece of geometry, which accelerated the whole thing.
(please see the screenshots below)

RE: Bedside Commodes from Italy
As always Dave - A great choice of furniture! And I really like your scetchy style!!
(sometime I have to try that)Cotty, thanks for that link!

A crumpled Paper Bag
Hi All, here is a little model I want to share.
To create it I've used Julia Christina Eneroths "Fractal Terrain Eroder"-plugin and Tigs
"Quadrilateralizer"-plugin. Only the region where the logo texture is added, is edited by
Tig's "Quadrilateralizer"-plugin, which worked fine! This plugin changed the selected triangulated
faces into quads - so the logo texture could be applied. Thanks to both authors for sharing these
great tools! In the final render the area of the baguette is replaced by a matching photo of a
real baguette within Photoshop.if you're interested, here is the model:
https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=u7dc2825c-86ee-41c1-b113-f1320438e710PS: the baguette in the bag I have borrowed from the 3D Warehouse.

RE: 3d rendered model from SU
Hi Richard
Also Artlantis Render is able to create "VR objects", if you want to orbit, rotate or zoom an exterior rendered view from your model just like creating "VR panoramas" for any interior view. These files can be "played" by any other viewers later such as browsers or QuickTime Player.
Also the cooperation between Sketchup and Artlantis works perfectly. Artlantis is a standalone renderer which works very quickly. SketchUp does not have to be opened...
