First off I'd like to say how amazing this plugin is - thanks for a brilliant resource!!!!!

I haven't tried anything too wacky and I've mostly spent my time trying to think of ways of creating all sorts of plants, trees and shrubs.

      Here's my attempt at a 'shaped' bush/hedge:

I'm not completely happy with the realism of the model, but I'll try experimenting with different leaf sizes and mixes. The shape isn't right either (too regular) and makes me think of a Dalek in camouflage -

Do you have a hand-drawn sketch of the design concept that you can post? Otherwise it's going to be difficult for anyone to suggest any modelling techniques/solutions.

      Hi Fredo6,

Thanks for taking the time to look at the model.

I followed Gaieus' instructions, but I don't get a warning when applying the plugin or saving the file.

Copying the model within the file results in a loss of faces in both sets of geometry. I also tried converting one group of geometry into a component and then applied the plugin. When saving there is a loss of faces for each instance of a component.

What was odd is the fact that when I loaded the component from the component palette it was reproduced at a much smaller scale than the original object. Presumably that isn't supposed to happen and is another indication that there is something odd about the model?

Luckily I have been able to apply the plugin using the method mentioned in my previous post, so I haven't had to remodel the light.

Also I've been working on an architectural model today and haven't had any trouble with the RoundCorner plugin.......so it looks more and more like this was a problem with my model........but can't think what the source of the problem might be.

Thanks Gaieus, I'll give that a go.

As an update to the situation I uninstalled SU and then installed the latest version. I then added the RoundCorner plugin (as well as LibFredo) - no other plugins - and I still had the same problem.

I did however find a way around the issue. By exploding geometry, applying the plugin and then re-grouping the geometry I didn't lose any of the corner faces when saving.

      xrok1,

      I'm using SU 7.1.6087 (Free)

      Gaieus,

When I scaled up the model and applied a 20mm radius, I still used 6 segments. The plugin doesn't appear to have a problem creating the faces and I can select them once created. The problem is that they vanish, along with hidden geometry, when I save the file.

      Hi xrok1,

The edges pictured in your post are amongst those effected.

I just realised that it wasn't very helpful to post a model where most of the edges had already been rounded off.

Here's a sharp edge version (again 10 x final size).

Even basic shapes like the square blocks and the clear lens on the top of the lighting model are causing me trouble.

      I'd really appreciate that. Thanks.

      Problem File

The model has only been scaled up so that it is 10 times the size that it needs to be. I've been trying to use a 2mm bevel on various edges, but if I scale up the model and use a 20mm bevel, I still get the same problem.

      Yes I did.

I've just tried remodelling certain elements of the model I'm working on and I'm finding that all sorts of odd geometry is appearing on its own and random bits of geometry keep disappearing in areas where I haven't applied the plugin.

I'll have to try reinstalling SU.

      Thanks for the response.

Unfortunately I already tried that and the same thing happens.

The plugin creates the rounded corners (20mm radius in this case), but as soon as I save the file a section from each corner literally vanishes. If I 'undo', the missing section reappears - disappearing again if I try and save the file.

What is odd, is that it only appears to happen with certain files and certain objects within a model (just basic shapes - nothing complex).

I'm having a little difficulty with the plugin.

The plugin works initially, but when I save my file I lose a small section from each corner.

Any idea what might be causing this?
