RE: OK Apple enough is enough
I understand from your frustration that you'd rather date a PC-woman?

RE: The Empire [Google] strikes back
Relax,... I used a smiley at the end of the sentence, which automatically makes it okay for me to say
On a more serious note. I understand my comment could be read in several ways. 'They' refers to Google, not to the people actively working on fine tuning Sketchup. The comment on itself only states the fact that Sketchup today is simply not what it could have been.
Hope I didn't step on too many toes...

How does this affect Sketchup?
For it to affect Sketchup they would have to be actively working on updating the software.
So no worries there

RE: Artlantis?
Well, first of all. Congrats on not getting the job
Hopefully you'll find something a bit more interesting soon...To answer your first question:
Artlantis is easy and has a decent output [a little retouch with PS will go a long way] -
RE: Nvidia vs. ATI
While I like Nvidia as it has never let me down [where ATI has...] You cannot compare these two cards. The GTX260 is a good card, but the HD5850 beats it at every level. It is even more silent than the GTX260 [And with the liquid cooling already in your system, I guess thats a good selling point ]
Found a good forum.
Regarding to GPU rendering, I think you need to get yourself informed as to what cards are capable of using this technology. Don't know if it's a Nvidia or ATI only thing.

RE: Is this possible or already exists
You could use Layout for this. Simply load the Sketchup-file; open it twice at a different scale and draw the circles yourself.

RE: IE9 looking good
Well yeah, I/we have been ranting about updating IE. But it feels more like the're changing it with every number. Now, I'm sure as hell not a professional web designer, but isn't it strange that with IE we're talking about version 6,7 and 8 as if they were different programs and with Firefox it's just Firefox?
As for IE9, I'm more worried about what they change than happy as to what they will update

Yeah, I also kept IE (beside Safari, Chrome, Opera and Firefox) just to see what it screws up when I am building a website. You always need to be cautious with that (like Martin also quoted something like that)
You don't have to have IE installed to test your site. You can download IEtester http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage which wil test IE from 5.5 [insane if you wan't to optimize your site for this version, but ok] to the latest version which is 8 at this point.
This program illustrates my most hated point about IE, every version handles differently! Unlike Mozilla who started with a good base and build on top of that, Microsoft seems to go a different direction every time a new version comes. Therefore I'm not to happy with the new version, since it probably means you have to build your site for IE 7,8 and 9 [no, no 6 here... If you still use IE6 you should pull the plug from your pc or slap your boss in the face ]

RE: Using a TV for a monitor...
@tomsdesk said:
...?
A couple of people I know use 1080p HD TV's for monitors but there's a couple of things I don't understand:
My little 22" monitor (which is now too often sounding like a 50cc scooter with a bad timing chain and starting to spaz out occationally so will need to be replaced as soon as someone finally pays me) has a max res of 1280x1025, close to the 1080 vertical already: so how can stretching 1920x1080 over 32", or 42" as one of my buddies uses, give good res...I don't get it?
Also...60hz or 120hz: how important for computer use?
Simply put,... It doesn't. But keep in mind that you'll often sit about 2 meters away from your TV and maybe half a meter away from you LCD screen. Your LCD TV simply has bigger pixels [and bigger spaces between 'em] because you sit further [farther?] away...
As for 60Hz or 120Hz for your PC screen... No need. TV needs it because of ghosting [flow behind moving objects] and 100Hz instead of 50Hz will make all the difference. But with your PC you probably don't need it.
And James, as far as I know your ms and Hz's aren't directly linked

RE: Urban rejuvenation UPDATED
Very nice! I just love the amount of detail you've put in it
Is the picture on the wall originally like this? I mean like turned 90 degrees clockwise?

RE: Re: Some Funny Pics.
Too bad it's a fake since it's not DOF but simple blurring the background...
Makes it less funny somehow...But take Pete's post for example!
Now there's something... you can't unsee -
RE: Always Remember..
Good thing to know, if you didn't 'hard format' your drive you probably can recover a lot of the data you've lost

RE: Introducing Google Chrome OS...
I don't think it's going to compete with MS Windows anytime soon, since the OS Google is talking about sounds like an upgraded Android for eee PC's.

RE: OFFICE RENDER FOR C & C
I think it's a pretty good render, but I would add a little more detail in the windows to give it a boost
