RE: Spread3D - Create interactive 3D Presentations
I tried your showcase, and while orbiting around a single [small] object is fine, the bigger models stutter across the screen and the walk through feature leaves your camera shaking.

RE: Spread3D - Create interactive 3D Presentations
I think you should take some time to finish/improve your product. It's buggy when trying to move and the quality isn't that good.

LEAP motion
Just saw this today:

I've never really been a fan of the 3D connexion mouse, but this seems interesting.
Hope they support Sketchup in their software -
RE: A new home for SketchUp
I'm going with worried...
Looks to me that this will make Sketchup too specific. Also, as this company is clearly invested with integrating its own software into Sketchup, what will happen to ruby scripts? Do they need to be 'checked' first?
A good time to start practicing with other software, just to be sure...

RE: Sketchup to Blender workflow?
Ah finally 'found' my model. Setting clip to a large amount and pressing numpad . did the trick, thanks guys!

Try with Collada dae format
I started with that, but for some reason it only shows one component in blender

Does it help if you change the viewport clipping options in Blender, on the N panel i tnink?
I cannot see your option in the N panel, maybe this screenshot illustrates my problem.

Sketchup to Blender workflow?
Any of you guys have some experience with exporting big models from Sketchup to Blender?
I tried exporting a model of a building with its surroundings [map of 110 x 170 meters]
as .stl, but in Blender that leaves you with a model that is too big to zoom out properly.
Scaling down the model afterwards will make it 'disappear'I wan't to see how I can integrate Blender in my work-process with Cycles, but this is
stopping me from doing that. -
RE: ALienware x51?
I believe that the matte black version gives some lag while working on big Sketchup models. Take the glossy one instead...

RE: SU 9 Wishlist
Don't know if it has been mentioned yet, but I would love the option where Styles/Profiles is applied to the whole model instead of every component/group. At this point I sometimes explode the entire model, just to get a nice NPR output from Sketchup.
Also, the option to 'tell' Sketchup which object is on top of the other. This to get rid of Z-fighting and maybe even see through style lines.
Just my two cents

RE: Realis3D
Looks like a user friendly Quest 3D to me. Have to wait till I get home to really use it, as it is painfully slow on my mac at work

RE: Camera advice
The FujiFilm FinePix S2940 gets some good reviews, only bad point about is that there are quite a few people having trouble with this camera indoors.
An other option is the Canon PowerShot SX130 IS, overall a very good camera. Only bad point about it is that it [supposedly] drains your battery, but this can be easily resolved by buying 'heavier' rechargeable batteries.

You can go a long way with $200. Did some research and found the Nikon Coolpix S6200.
Here's a review:

I think that, at the end of the day, I've probably played Skyrim for 12 hours straight

RE: The "Duh!" thread (aka the Doh! thread)
Found out last week that you can also color lines in your model
It even works with custom drawing styles

RE: Deblur
A bit suspicious as to what the presets do, and if it will be as easy for your own photos.
