      @tig said:

If you have some Scenes when you want 'solid' people/cars and others where you want 'wireframe' use Layers and Scene-tabs.
Make two Layers named SOLID and WIREF.
      Your people/cars should be components.
Put them all on the SOLID layer.
Now make a copy of all of them and put those on the WIREF layer.
      Switch the SOLID layer off...
Select all of the people/cars [on WIREF] and use make unique on these - this way you keep a 'solid' set unchanged.
Edit each person/car component in turn.
Select all faces [use one of the selection-tools available] and delete them [a quick way is to use Wireframe view mode, select all edges by fence, Edit>Cut so the faces auto-delete and them immediately Edit>PasteInPlace so only the edges are left - go out of Wireframe mode to check they've gone!].
Use 'Entity Info' on these selected edges to stop them casting shadows etc and then you have what you need.
By toggling the two layers ON/OFF you can have solid/wireframe people/cars in different Scene-tabs...
If you move one need to remember to move the other - easy done if both layers are temporarily on while you edit...

      The awesome trick worked πŸ˜„
      thanks indeed ! πŸ‘

    • Assign a style to a group/ layer

      Hello friends
Do you know a work around or a plugin to assign some parts of the model to a different style? I wanted to make my cars and people in the model to be in a wireframe-sketch style so that i don't have to block the main model. i know the method of exporting different images and using photoshop but is it possible in sketchup itself? any ideas please
      thank you.

    • RE: How to model Ceiling patterns

Thank you mitcorband dereeei I'll try the methods you mentioned, but i doubt the images i have give a good bump as required it was nice if there is a site that has black and white pattern images for good bump. btw is kerkythea a good option to give bump images like in this one?
      Thanks again.

    • How to model Ceiling patterns

      Hello friends,

Recently I have to design a ceiling pattern for a residence and i decided to use SU. Currently i can only think of the follow me tool. I'm still not sure if something like displace modifier is there. could you point me some techniques to quickly model the patterns, please see the sample image.

      Thank you.

      @honoluludesktop
I just did it using watermark it so easy and fits perfect using same image as background in kt. thanks for the link of cutout resource.

      @ladisnomad
Great technique, I haven't ever thought about using separate layer ... wow !

the only thing i'm missing in kt is controlling the brightness of background images, but i think i can put that in gimp.

      Thank a lot Guys,

Its not the Exact location but, Just to try i did it with gimp to have this,
I used artlantis to inset to site,

I'm now trying it with watermark in sketchup if i can have the same.

      Thank you,

      Thank you!
      Great tips so far,

I was trying to add people, trees and cars in gimp but how could i know their alignment angle in 3d space and how exactly i place them to similar location in different renders,

please tell me if you have a link of a tutorial on adding entrounage to render in gimp/ps
and one more thing what if i wanted to insert a real photo of the site as background is it possible just in sketchup?

    • Get back model from kerkythea xml

      Hello !
After completing my model and rendering it with kerkythea, i just accidentaly deleted the sketchup skp model.i do have an exported model in kerkythea xml format. After googling some time with no luck. I modeled it again with photomatch from my renders to keep up with submission time.

Any ways its nice to know if there is a way. Is it possible to get 3ds or skp from z xml

      thanks..\

What would be the easiest way to create interactive walkthrough from a sketchup model.
      (standalone walkthrough)

    • RE: Selecting All Visible Faces

Chris's method along with 'deselect faces that have normals away from camera'
      will do the task,
      What if,
Just to filter the occluded faces.
      but might be elementary
Is it feasible to project random points from planes in the camera.direction to test if the points do project on other planes?

Would it be taking too much to calculate?
this filter might include the partially visible ones any ways.

    • RE: Selecting All Visible Faces

Thanks a lot thom for quick reply.
      Exactly the ignore back faces...
My Initial focus was to select visible faces and project them to plane for an elevation.
So as these partial faces appear in elevations Its ideal to include them in selection. And if possible otherwise is to create an additional cut-out geometry from the visible excluding the hidden ones.
      Thanks once again.

    • Selecting All Visible Faces

      Hello.
I'm a noob to coding, I'm just reading Automatic sketchup to learn ruby.
I wanted a way select all visible faces without the back faces etc. (as in max?) or at least those visible from an orthographic camera view but i cant figure out how?
      Thank you !
