Lovely model.
Thanks for sharing.
And Kris is so right. The sides of the stacks are a very nice touch. It's those sort of little details that realy make a model.
Nicely done.

That can come in handy.
Thanks for sharing.
Did you model those shoes? And if so, could you post a tutorial?

Eliminating un-needed faces
Hi y'all,
If memory serves, there's a script that eliminates superfluous faces. Like if I make a group made up of a number of groups then, if I understand correctly, the script will erase faces that are hidden or that overlap.
Is there indeed such a script and is that what it does?
Thanks -
RE: Greene & Greene Thorsen House Inspired Side Table
Lovely model, Dave.
I can understand making a model with all of the joinery as a way of planning out your production process. I do that often so that I can be certain the craftsmen will produce exactly what I want. If I think it's worth posting as a model I usualy make a copy and simplify it as much as I can.
Is it alright with you if I re-do your model without the joinery and redundant faces? It's a beautiful model but for use as a component it's somewhat over-modeled. -

Morning Gidon
What materials is it going to be made from. Is the top compartment a drawer?
cheers
AlanAlan hi, It's going to be made from Oak and will be stained dark. Almost Wenge.
And you're right, the top compartment is indeed a drawer. -

A small side table
This little table is going to used to wrap small packets on. You'll notice a slit in the back of the table top. The cellophane wrap is kept in the table behind the doors and is pulled through the slit as needed.
You're all welcome to it if you want it.Cheers,
Gidon

Woodworking projects for kids
At my youngest sons school (he's nine years old) the first hour on Fridays is dedicated to "special interests". About 20 parents come to the school and teach all kinds of things that are not part of the school curriculum so as to enrich the learning experienc. One parent teaches Spanish, another parent teaches Origami and so on. The kids are given a list of the different 'courses' at the beginning of the year and each one decides which 'course' he or she would like to take.
Those of you who know me will have guessed that I teach woodworking. Simple little projects the kids can make with basic hand tools. Our first project is a simple bird house made of 4 m"m plywood and 1cm X 1cm X 3cm pine pieces.
Our next project will be a simple stool.
If any of you guys have any ideas for projects that you think the kids could make then please post them here.

RE: Seat with Arms
I love the simplicity and elegence of the design.
Did you design the bench or just create this lovely model? -
Old Wooden Barrel
I was asked by some-one if it is possible to cut an old wooden barrel in half without it falling apart.
That got me thinking about how I might model a barrel.
So I gave it a try.
What do you think?
And this is what it would look like if were busted apart.

Mover has a feature where it will move an object by an amount determined by the objects size if the DIST amount is zero or blank.
Jim, I know I was less than enthusiastic when I first saw the 'mover' but I have since come to use and appreciate it more and more. So first of all: Thank you. Secondly, regarding the above mentioned feature I find that to be very very helpful.
Thanks again. -

Gidon,
The movement is along the red, green, blue axial lines rather than to the left or right so it's possible to be in a position where it looks as if the movement is in the opposite direction to that indicated.
Stu
OK, got it.
Thanks -
RE: [Plugin] MoveIt
Stu, I downloaded the script, tried it out and it is indeed a lovely tool. I have one or two questions.
Firstly, all the movements are in the opposite direction to the arows. In other words, I'll key in a distance, hit the arrow pointing right, and the object moves left.(?!?)
Secondly, I cant figure out how to enter a rotation value. When I hit the "?" button it just rotates any which way it chooses.
What have I missed?
Oh! And of-course: a big THANK YOU to Jim -
RE: [Plugin] MoveIt
But if I select an object then move it along a given axis and type in a distance I get the same result. I'm trying to understand the advantage of activating a script to do this.

RE: [Plugin] MoveIt
Hi y'all,
I'm not sure I understand what this script does that move/copy doesn't. -
RE: Sofa set
Guite, would it be possible for you to post a tutorial showing the steps, tools and methods you used to create that amazing model?
Please? -
RE: Sofa set
Guite, thank you so much for that beautiful set!
I'm sure I'll be using it often.
Thanks again,
Gidon
