      Hi Thom,
that was actually the model I wanted your vertex plugin for.
I will buy your plugin as soon as I get a job for another shape to form. Your plugin does look great and I like your site as well. Plugin writers have taken over main stream CAD ... πŸ˜„

I think JD Hill has done an unbelievable job for the SU to Maxwell plugin. We had been waiting for it almost half a year but it seems well worth the wait.

    • Maxwell 2.1 and a new plugin

      Hi,
I have become a bit of a fan for Maxwell, and thought I let the people here know there is good news to share.

JD Hill has finished his new plugin for Maxwell, and posted the manual for it, http://www.maxwellrender.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=107&t=34736
and I suppose it will be available for download any time soon (but not yet).

Then the new version 2.1 of Maxwell seems a good update taking care of many minor issues. The new plugin seems to provide for a well concieved UI within SU. It looks like a major achievement.

Nl, the makers of Maxwell have a 50% discount promotion with just a day left ( they won a ballgame ).

I added a recent image of a kind of rendering I do lot lately, scalemodel renders. Very easy to set up and update when there are design changes.

    • RE: [Plugin] Make Fur v.2.1.0(20140323)

On a Mac crowd maker still does not work.
The dialog now works fine but it does not create any crowd on the selected surface.

Hope you can update when you have any time. But don't worry, I am already fine with the current version making crowds with the fur dialog.
      Francois

An idea for crowd maker, it would be nice if we can project a line that guides the crowd into certain directions. For instance at stations crowds tend to walk back and forth following routes. Maybe its possible to click a line, or a curved line and crowdmaker puts the crowd with a specified with along this line.

Here some other tests and models we made with SU-Maxwell combo. The trees with the fine branches are from Evermotion added in Studio.

      Hi Richard,
tx for all the comments and praisal. There is a lot to improve but I am trying to keep these kind of images done in a day including rendering. This is low budget visualisation working with first sketches of a building. Lateron we will make more realistic images based on these ones.

I have been sick just now and I might upload some more images this weekend.

I will think about uploading these trees but I can't promise anything. But really, get Modo, and you can easily make them yourself. I heard Rhino is also going OSX.

I use Studio to render my SU models. But as soon as the new plugin is ready by JDHill I will probably render these images straight from SU. Also a good reason to keep trees low polygon.

    • RE: SU-Maxwell- scale model in wood

TX all for the comments and suggestions. All have a certain truth to them and are appreciated.

The woodtextures do look better when larger, just to make you feel its just a model. Actually they were larger but I reduced the size with finer grain since the texture wasn't really at its best to show any larger, iow, it was showing pixel at larger scale.

The low polygon trees only distract people who are into 3D modeling. But I am also more comfortable with smoother glass on the trees. We have endless smoothness in Modo really and we might for closeup use some higher polygon trees in the future. Btw, get Modo if you can, its a great app to go along with Sketchup and you no longer need to scan the plugin index here for organic modeling tools.

That's a DS is the foreground...and a Porche in the distance.
I have tried clayrender models but clients are not very impressed, somehow they seem a little underwhelmed by anything less expensive looking...

I like the trees distract the viewer, actually I am always hoping the trees will, in the studies and in real life. Regretfully usually the buildings are the cause of distraction obstructing the view. I like to add a little critism to my innocent presentations...

But I should have added the other views that are done with this one. Making the tree in the foreground not a problem, being only one view out of 4. I tried to add more images but this board only allows me to add one, no matter how many times I tried to add more. I am on OSX though, that might be a bit of a hassle with the browser and loading images.

In my daily work as far as designs and presentations are concerned, if the mood is good I am (finally..) finished. Big TX for that comment.

    • RE: SU-Maxwell- scale model in wood

We did not do the design for the building but we did for the tree. TX.
Its low polygon for good reasons, try a dozen and the high polygon version does not make you happy. Anyhow, the tree was sketched in SU, then modelled in Modo and then imported back into SU.

The glass looks funny since glass does look funnier than you think, its rendered unbiased. These models are not meant to do anything else than quickly set up a rendering at a moment nothing but the general shape is concieved. As long as the client feels we did our best its fine. We are not looking for the perfect scalemodel lookalike. Modeling and rendering should be done in about a day.

      Hi,
made this "scale" model for a client. This was done during the design process, just to quickly show around without any decisions made on the materials to be used.

    • RE: Render plugin for SU

Teh Maxwell plugin at the moment is getting a total makeover. And as you can read on the dedicated forum at the Maxwell site it should be a huge improvement over anything previously released.

I am using Maxwell now for a few years and I think its great in combination with SU. But be sure to check out the new plugin when its released, it might put Maxwell back on top for a render app's for SU.

    • RE: SU MXM library from arroway materials?

try not doing all at once. just convert as you go, convert those that you really need and use.
Once you got one mxm-material well done with arroway's images you can dupicate it and finetune again for each material.

I have all arroway textures and only convert "on demand". its an endless job trying to do all at once. And when you're done Maxwell's material editor may change or update and you have to go through them all again.

      Ok, Thomthom,
I will comment on the "looks and feel" in a private message when your finished. I am hoping for a stable plugin doing what you are planning. Looks very promissing.

    • RE: [WIP][$] Vertex Edit

I think OSX users are spoiled by a good looking and consistent OS with app's that are set within a certain overall graphic design.
I might not be representing anyone really but it might be worth giving it a thought on how people percieve a plugin that differs from the SU look and feel.

But Thomthom, nobody here is hoping to delay your plugin over trivial matters, plugin users are not the most likely people to be very sensitive on "looks and feel" anyhow. I would get your plugin, for what it does, the sooner the better.

Its not white but light gray, as I see it at others on OSX too.

      Hi Thomthom,
tx for your efforts to add even more tools to SU and such great tools. I would be one to buy such a plugin.

Just one comment, as an architect I am a bit sensitive to how the plugins look. I like for example the 1001bit tools that I bought, elegant tools and the toolpalette looks as if it is original SU. Maybe nobody else minds but since your plugin looks so promissing I hope you will also make your toolpalette look as if native SU on a white background.

If you don't, also ok, its the tool itself that matters of course.
