Like Csaba already mentioned, it will surely bring SU on its knees... 
Moreover, I don't believe the 3D object converter will recognize instanced objects... 
I might be wrong, but please note that the instance brush in KT is a special feature...
But did you know that you can place "dummies" in SU and replace these with instanced objects in KT..?? 
I.e. you place some 2D trees in SU (enabling you to orbit the model/scene in SU) then you can replace these in KT with instanced 3D trees...
