the instancing brush is a powerful modeler, you can generate random planting (say ivy or other random patterns) and then have that intricate object in SU for other tricks - rendering a mixture of KT and SU..

Like Csaba already mentioned, it will surely bring SU on its knees... 😲
Moreover, I don't believe the 3D object converter will recognize instanced objects... 😞
I might be wrong, but please note that the instance brush in KT is a special feature...

But did you know that you can place "dummies" in SU and replace these with instanced objects in KT..?? πŸ˜„
I.e. you place some 2D trees in SU (enabling you to orbit the model/scene in SU) then you can replace these in KT with instanced 3D trees... πŸ˜„

perhaps if you use one of majids sky domes you could make it look a bit better?

This is a render and I don't know any render app. capable of using SU sky-domes... 😐
Instead you can use a spherical sky... πŸ˜„

What render app. did you use, Pav..??

This is what I've replied in the KT Forum...

Sorry, Max... I have seen your question before, but I don't have an exact answer for you... 😞

I'm not sure why you would like to export from KT to SU... πŸ˜•
Although I haven't had time to play with it yet, maybe this program can help you...?!? At least you can import/open KT XML-files and save them to another 3D formats, which you might be able to import in SU... 😐

@Frederick: Please bare with me. This is my first attempt ever on making an animation.
I am on a learning curve here so I hope I can improve my skills in time. thanks for understanding...

Chris, you don't need to apologize to me... πŸ˜‰
Thanks to you, I've seen some amazing renders made using Indigo lately, but I'm not particular impressed with the quality in this animation and the time it took to render... 😐

As you know, photoreal animation has been available in KT for more than a year now and it's fairly simple to set-up and use... πŸ˜‰

      Sorry... πŸ˜•
      How's this impressive..?? πŸ˜•
I don't find it looking very photorealistic and to be honest I'm not impressed by the time it took to render this... 😐
2.5 hours render time in this quality is not impressive IMHO...!
I feel sure that you're going to see other render engines that will be capable of generating similar quality, but made in real time within the next year... πŸ˜‰

Is it possible to render photoreal animations straight from sketchup?

How do you mean straight..?? πŸ˜•
Don't you need to leave SU..??
Is it like in "Podium straight"..??

    • RE: Where have all the textures gone?

      Hi Roger,

I suggest that you simply put your XML-file in the same folder as your textures... This will ensure that KT will find them... πŸ˜‰

Did you re-export your model - or part of it - and then use the "merge" tool..?? πŸ˜•
It seem as if you've exported this scene with the Export default UVs set to "YES"...
If this is the case I suggst that you re-export again with "No" instead...

...but I think it has to be possible to achieve similar results by using Sketchup as a modeler.

Undoubtedly... If you have the right textures and know/understand how to apply them, it sure is possible, with any modelling application... πŸ˜‰

Solo, I am looking at you , I think modeling wise this is your cup of tea πŸ˜‰.

I wouldn't say "modeling wise" but more likely "texture wise" and again I agree that Pete (being the texture King) will be the first person I would believe is capable of achieving similar results... πŸ˜‰

    • RE: 1st render in KT

Thanks for the kind words, Edson... πŸ˜„
Believe me - it's my pleasure taking you through this, and I'm sure that you'll adapt things much faster now that we've initiated the Beginners Starting Guide "class", which I'm sure many will benefit from watching/joining... πŸ˜‰

Regarding changing textures etc. this is exactly the purpose with this "class", where users will learn how they can change textures, apply new components, set-up lightning etc... etc... πŸ˜‰

Some will find the "class" being very basic, but I guess we need to acknowledge that what we see as being "simple", to others may seem difficult... πŸ˜‰

When it comes to applying textures to spheric shapes, I always seem to have difficulties... 😞
(and maybe you had used another application to apply the textures - like Deep Exploration... πŸ˜‰ )
