If nothing else I sincerely hope this spurs the google development team to actually further develop SU (instead of leaving it to the community of users) and break their silence towards their user base; although I won't be holding my breath.

RE: Digital Watercolour
Those look great...I really like the cleanness you maintained with the water color. Sometimes water colors look a little to water colored.

RE: Need Artistic Help - Photoshop Post Processing
Thanks guys....Tremendous effort must have been put into creating that.

Need Artistic Help - Photoshop Post Processing
As my mind tends to run in the left brain mode I thought I'd ask for help on this.
Could any of the photoshop gurus out here in the forums lend some advice on how to make a SU model really "pop". I've attached some examples of what is typical of what I produce. I'm just looking for some photoshop techniques that would help make these have a little more wow factor (assuming they had any to begin with).
Any and all suggestions/critiques are welcome at this point.

RE: NPR Style
I wondered how you painted around that tree in the foreground and got that brick texture. I've been playing around a little in PS trying to get the same result. It requires a little more work with the selection process and you already have to have the brick on the building as a sketchy material from SU if you want that brick pattern.
Speed's the name of the game here in regards to 'rendering'. I'm going to throw one of these in front of the boss and see what he thinks. Can't wait to see it get beat to hell.

RE: NPR Style
Any chance of seeing a tutorial of how to achieve those results in PS.

RE: NPR Style
Those really look nice. How much photo shop work was involved in that?

As far as I'm concerned, that'd be fine. Still, poly count is an issue that needs to be adressed. Even when doing 'mere' architectural modelling SU gets far too sluggish far too soon.
I'd LOVE to hear Google comment on this - are they working to resolve the issue? Are they not? If not, WHY not? I'd consider that decent service. Their usual total silence, however, I find disrespectful.
Amen to the above statement. Your losing your paying customer base Google....that is if you care....care to comment???

RE: Is there a Sketchyphysics V planned?
I think google could learn a few things from you and some of the ruby writers here on the forums.
SP is amazing.

RE: Is there a Sketchyphysics V planned?
Is sketchy physics developed by google.. Whats the backstory on it and why does it's development seem to be moving so much faster than the core application it runs in????

RE: Layout giving error - image export to big
Thank you..that does help
I'll try that first thing tomorrow. I exported to hi res pdf (200 meg pdf file) then brought that into Photoshop at 300 dpi. Hopefully thats good enough for the printers. I'm on xp pro 32bit with 2 gig of ram, I'm thinking that still may not be enough to go directly to image.
Thanks again...its nice to know the google team is watching (and responding) to these threads.

Layout giving error - image export to big
Anyone know what the limit of exporting images is from layout. I am trying to export a 300 dpi image of a 36 X 24 inch sheet and get a message about the image being to big.
Granted thats pretty big, but come on google.

RE: Terrain tutorials
Check out the base camp videos from the last one back in June. There is one about an hour long devoted entirely to this subject. It's very good.
Sorry I don't know the link. Just search the forums here and you'll find it.

RE: SU8 - WISHLIST

If this whishlist is like su7 whish list then I think it is useless.
I couldn't agree more. I think that the current release and silence on Google's part says it all about the direction of SU. I bought Version 7 and if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't. Unless there are some serious advancements with SU in the future, I'm staying where I am with it (back in 6) and using something with some more horsepower under the hood to finish things out.
If it were not for the generous community of scrip writers and others on this forum, I'm not sure SU would even be in my workflow. If you look at what has really been done to SU since Google purchased it, their intentions become painfully clear.
It's a gateway 3d app. (the first one's always free)

RE: SketchUp 7 frustrations
I'm at about the 80% completion mark in my first real SU7 project, a small site plan showing the building on the lot, and will be rolling back to SU6 after it's done. Main, and so far the only real reason being the component browser losing it's back button. Good lord 'n' butter thats a headache to navigate thru now. Until its returned I'm in 6 to stay.
No graphic problems, no speed decrease or increase, no stability problems. Just $100 dollars to have the back button removed.
I hope that can be fixed with a patch.

RE: I hate to say it...
I've been running AutoCAD as my primary app for 15+ years. Trust me that gorilla is still fast asleep.

RE: .quick rough photo overlay.
Thats really interesting. Any chance of getting the file uploaded to take a look at?
I'm not sure I follow how you did this.

RE: DoubleCAD XT, free commercial use 2D detailing app.
Got it. Our ISP wasn't letting it thru.

RE: DoubleCAD XT, free commercial use 2D detailing app.
Any idea when we'll receive our emails for the download instructions?
This is exactly what we've been looking for when the summer interns show up, although with the economy it may not be a issue.
No work> no interns > no software needed.

RE: *Yawn* Alternatives to SketchUp
For a modest mid figure 4 digit dollar amount (not including training or subscription), it can be yours.
