    • RE: Living-Dining area(SU-Vue6)

Well, Jackson, I've never attempted an interior in Vue (well, almost never) - so you're the boss when it comes to those! 😆
I would say you still need to increase your AA even more... IMHO...
did you try the 'optimized' button?

Plus, a scene with reflections of spatial edges, and reflections of reflections of spatial edges would be a good challenge for Vue's AA capabilities.

btw - Tom, very good images, for Vue interiors - I'm impressed, but wouldn't attempt it myself. I only use Vue if I need animated water, sky, and vegetation... otherwise for still it's KT all the way. I can get interiors or exteriors finished and ready for the client (after my Su model is done) in as little as 30mins. I Wouldn't attempt an interior from Vue in that time frame. 😆 But Jackson could probably do it!

      Hi Bubba,
Is your floor material following the correct physical laws? I mean, when you add up the numbers for ambient and diffuse, etc. they do not equal more than "1.0", correct?

If you would like, as I've done many times, I can d/l and try to see if I can spot the prob.
I will pm you my email info if you like

    • KERKYTHEA 2008 ECHO EDITION HAS BEEN RELEASED

Kerkythea Rendering System 2008 Echo Edition has now been released!

It has been a long year of waiting, but Kerkythea, the latest version of the incredibly simple, powerful, and amazingly flexible render system, powered by Thea Render Engine v2.0, is now available at the Kerkythea website.

Kerkythea 2008 Echo is a full staging application for rendering your models. And now it’s available for ALL MAJOR PLATFORMS… PC, Linux, and MacOSx! It accepts .3ds or .obj models, as well as having powerfully developed free exporters for SketchUp, Blender, and 3dsMax/GMax.

The power of Kerkythea lies in it’s simplicity… you may set up your lights and materials once, but you may experiment with more than 6 different rendering ‘methods’ including Photon Map and Final Gathering (biased method similar to “Radiosity”) or ranging up to Metropolis Light Transport (unbiased). With even more render modes easily accessible from the one-click preset list. You may setup your materials, lights, environment once but experiment with various different render modes.

Introducing the Kerkythea Instancing Brush, Adding the "Echo" to Kerkythea.

It features instancing by loading the “Brush” with any model or group of models and painting (scattering) instances of that onto any model “canvas” object you choose. Or, you can choose auto-population of the canvas determined by grid, or driven by image mask!

      http://www.kerkythea.net/users/Frederik/Frolfer12/Research-Retreat-small.jpg

      Additional Unbiased Render Method

Now featuring MLT(BiPT) Metropolis Light Transport on top of Bidirectional Path Tracing to handle the most demanding indirect lighting scenes.
Robust and Completely Re-Vamped Material Editor

Now featuring nk/ior measured data support, synthesis layer, procedural ramps, improved materials and the new plugin SDK for user developed customized objects.

      Also featuring:
      -15-25% render speed increase
      -Multithreadingsupport for all render methods
      -Network rendering to unlimited machines/threads/cross-platform
-Instancing and grouping of Lights or Models
      -Sun/Sky Portals,
      -Supersampling
      -Physical Camera definition enhancements
-Parallel View Rendering for plans/elevations, etc.
      -IES Light implementation
-Render Passes: Specular, Light, Diffuse, and Diffuse Texture
      -Improved depth map rendering
-Alpha channel auto-recognitionfor .png and .tif files
      -Drop and align commands
      -and muchmore…

Kerkythea now supports a zipped xml version (kzx extension) for saving files which, combined with instancing, can result in file sizes 5% to 10% the size of previous versions’ saved .xml scenes.

The new multi-platform plugin SDK implementation allows users to write their own plugins including new procedural textures, materials, and lights.

These are available for download from Kerkythea.net.

    • RE: KT Interior Render

Hi guite - beauty render so far...

only thing I noticed quickly would be that the corner downlight seems to cast light 'up' (or at least straight sideways) onto the adjacent wall... but most people wouldn't notice or care...

I typically for interiors, or exteriors on the north side of a building tend to use the image>adjust>shadow/highlights feature of photoshop to boost some of the darks up w/out crushing my lighter pixels. 😉

keep it coming! looks like you have a bright future with SU2KT 😄

yes, but that only works with 2 point you click, right? or would if follow a path if they were lines that were glued together?

I would definitely pay for this if the functions would be the same as on that page you referenced. I have always wanted to skew objects with the Scale tool but couldn't.

yeah I added that to the SU7 wish list. 😄

    • Extrude lines along path

is there a ruby written somewhere that is basically a 'Follow Me' tool for lines?
I would like to select lines as the path, then choose the 'FollowMeLines' tool, and then select the lines I want to follow along that path... and have it create the faces... would be handy for wrapping a fascia around the odd corner... or a million other things.

I know how to do this in a million other ways... but that tool would rock, IMHO.

for some, put a chisel and hammer in their hand and you will get "David", others, you will get dust.

      my point?
One may not judge any render engine by seeing another user's first attempts. They may only judge the user's attempts.

    • RE: KT 2008 Echo Edition Teaser!!

To see a few more renders made with KT 2008, you can check this out...
      It's nothing fancy.

The first one is a few details from a Vue5I render... and there are some SU renders, some Mental Ray renders... some KT renders... but mostly KT.

You will spot the KT renders right away as they will be the ones that are all grainy and unprofessional. 😐

... odd that many people I've seen actually TRY to get the graininess in their vrays... even post-proing it?! ... but I digress.

    • RE: SU2KT-Kerkythea so easy it's scary

Bok, Mateo! hvala. Kako si?! Dobro?

After import into KT2007, you can sort the materials list by selecting, then right-clicking the word "model" at the top of the left pane... then choose "sort".

If you have installed libraries in KT, now with the new SU2KT you can simply apply them inside of SU, there's the option to 'attach' them to another material, (it will replace the other mats texture, but you can then UV map it right in SU. OR you can just import any KT as a new SU mat, then paint with it, map it however you like. When you open it in KT, just hit 'render'... voila. done. 😉 sretan put!

Hi Jackson! Long time man! You are pretty much rockin' the Vue interior sector last I checked... 😄 and as you know I almost gave up w/ Vue unless I need animated vegetation/sky/water.

When the next KT comes out well... I can't spoil any surprises, but lets just say I haven't opened my Vue6 in months. 😄

hmm... I did the original render in a real crunch time, and rendering w/ 4 cores on lower qual. PM settings... (preset 06 in KT) 800x600 about an hour. Then I had to go re-do it (my perfectionist side kicking in) and I left it over a weekend in MLT at much larger res (that's the image here, but hi-res not posted here). You can see it in the link in my signature. 😉

@KB - love that! great work... you know you can rotate your model, and photomatch it with another render and paint the other faces so you could theoretically get another shot of that space from the other end of the room... at least it's a theory... works better with an exterior I imagine.

Note it changes the definition of group to add a .definition method.
This makes group more similar to componentInstance.

from your google group link... I find this fascinating as it's one the many little annoying things about SU that would have been fixed if they hadn't been bought by google... makes no sense why the axes work the way they do in SU6... either they should work like SU5, or allow you to adjust the axes w/out making them a component. obviously could be done. 😒

a tool simply in the SU shell called 'reset axes' that only appeared for Groups would be very nice... since you can't do that in SU now.
